he’s 83.

Seems to me that he’s been a bit screwy for a while now.

Just finished it. Really well done series.

John Oliver spending about 30 minutes on Chuck E. Cheese is about the funniest thing I've seen in recent memory.

Just finished watching the sixth episode of the Shogun mini-series and it's really, really good.  Streams on Hulu and I think is broadcast on FX.

If tried watching it on FX. Gave up because of the commercials

Taken a few days to catch-up but, as ever, I recommend the latest 'American Experience' film - 'The Cancer Detectives'. It looks at the development, and adoption, of the smear test, for cervical cancer, in the US. It's a short-form (50 minutes), so not too demanding of your time.

Watched the Steve Martin documentary on Apple a few days ago. Honestly, I thought it was kind of dull, possibly because Steve Martin is a pretty boring guy off stage. No drama, drug issues, #metoo, or anything like that. The documentary just seemed to gloss over much of his career, especially his books and plays.

Anyone ever watch Resident Alien?  I started watching season one on Peaccok.  It’s hilarious.  Three seasons I believe.

There’s a Nats reference in season 2.

This Billy Joel show is snippets of the concert in a barrage of commercials. He sounds great though.

I recommend the latest 'American Experience' film - 'Poisoned Ground - The Tragedy At Love Canal', which examines the history of chemicals dumping, in the US. It's an excellent exposition of the interplay between environmental, scientific, academic, social, economic and political forces. Well worth your time.

My Dad worked up around niagara Falls at the start of WWII. He worked for a defense contractor who was setting up TNT plants around the country. I'm not sure if they were a responsible party for Love Canal, but it would not surprise me (I don't know the history of the Hooker Chemical plant). He was a supervisor for a production line on one of the shifts. There were multiple shifts on the line, plus maintenance periods. During a night time shift, another supervisor on his line had a maintenance worker go into clean an area using trichloroethylene. It was cold, so the worker closed the window that supplied ventilation. The guy was overcome by the fumes and froze to death overnight.

My Dad went on to work in the semiconductor manufacturing industry after the war, but he always remembered the danger of TCE. He always used alcohol as his cleaning solvent in his lines because of this incident. The upshot of that was he never was hit with a fine or clean up liability later due to their businesses and their discharges. Green chemistry / pollution prevention before the terms were even conceived.

You'd certainly get a lot from this film, then, if you haven't already watched it. It deals with a scenario which always makes for a great AE - everyone, at the time, thinks they're ahead, but no-one actually comes out unscathed...
