The storm tonight hits later.
Finally have cell reception at the house. I doubt I get power back this week, but I have a generator. tom, you have power? Oakton is a mess.
We have power and all except phone service at this point. Lost our biggest oak, which in turn took out all or portions of 5 other trees, and did some light damage to my neighbor's cars. Now we're going to have to bring in a tree service to cut down all the damaged trees (remainder of the oak and 5 large white pines averaging 40 feet tall), grind out the stumps and come up with a landscaping plan.
My wife already has some idea$.
Lots of neighbors have downed trees, and I'm talking really big oaks. Not a situation where the ground is saturated and the wind topples them over, rather intense high winds that snapped them off mid-trunk, in our case 12-15 feet off the ground. Incredible wind to do that, we haven't had a hurricane yet with the force of this storm in our neighborhood.
One neighbor's house has a tree that crashed through the roof into the upstairs rooms.
