4-6 today, 2 bombs. Up to .310 with 7 bombs in AA. Still not walking much but hes definitely impressing with the bat.

looking at his fielding stats at AA, he apparently played a game at SS with the Senators. Today was 3B with House off. That looks like the first time he's played 3rd in Harrisburg. HAs been splitting time mostly between 1st and 2nd.

Edit - this is wrong. I missed the toggle on his MiLB page. 284 innings at 3rd, 75 innings split among SS, 2B, and 1st.

I thought Lipscomb was at 3B until House was promoted.

Don't forget Darren Baker, who has never been a respected prospect but who keeps hitting and fielding. I'm beginning to agree with Slateman, who suggests, maybe in exaggeration, that the Nats should bench Luis Garcia and try Baker at 2B.

you are right. I missed clicking on the toggle for 2 teams in 2023 on his MiLB page.

Call him up: Trey Lipscomb is 9-for-13 (.692) over his last three games and 14-for-30 (.467) over his last seven. 😮‍💨

@tlips03 has just three strikeouts in 31 plate appearances over this seven-game stretch.

BBA names Lipscomb as the Nationals' potential breakout prospect:

Quote
He barrels the ball consistently, and has shown improvement at third base as well. He’s transformed himself into one of the second-tier of Nationals prospects with a clear path to an MLB role."

HR #9. Just promote the entire Harrisburg offense to Rochester.

He's outperforming House at AA. Granted, House is still 20 and Lipscomb is 23. House is .316 / .365 / .392 with 0 HRs over 85 PAs, while Lipscomb is .335 / .359 / .525 with 9 HRs over 245 PAs. Both guys demonstrating walk allergies.

In terms of where they are playing Trey, he's played 76.2 innings at 1st, 48 at 2nd, and 26 at SS, in addition to time at 3rd. The total for 1st, 2nd, and SS is about 150, which is close to House's AA innings (174.2 at 3rd exclusively).

How is his defense in the MI? Specifically at 2B?

not many errors (1), but I don't know anything advanced to look at or heard any scouting reports  or people talking about it.

won Nats system's defensive player of the year award. His defense isn't talked about much except for his versatility, but it looks like he has more than just his offense going for him.

I'm curious if it's mostly due to the position versatility vs actually being a plus with the glove.

I saw him play 3B, SS, and 2B...figured it takes a good fielder to do that. Vargas can do it for the Nats, but few others here.

For sure, there's a ton of value in being able to play competent defense at multiple positions. But there's a difference between competent and plus.

Not trying to argue he doesn't deserve the award if my question is true, I'm really just curious since I hadn't heard much of his defensive capabilities before other than the positional versatility.

So, is this guy for real? He's having a hell of a spring so far. I'd like to see how he does against better pitching later into the Spring. He jumped up last season for sure, but could he be a diamond in the rough?

I believe.

The D can play. He also seems like a glue guy that the top end players (Wood, Crews, House) like. I think its a question of whether he can force himself in as a regular or whether he's more of a career backup

They're probably trying to see if he can be a utility infielder, seeing as how he seems to lack any pop

yes, the bat is the question whether he's a "superutility" who gets near-regular playing time or whether he's just a multi position backup
