Dumb. Theres no reason to do sprints. If there was, there would be a track in every bullpen.
Each week is 168 hours, and on a busy week, a relief pitcher does his actual job for less than one of those hours. If you are getting paid a major league salary, there should be some expectation of keeping fit and athletic, that they can work in to those other 167 hours/week they aren't working. Knowing nothing about him, I'm guessing Elias does do some of that. I think sprinting that hard cold was probably the bigger culprit. He should have known better, but man I hate criticizing a guy for playing hard when he shouldn't.
Hopefully he comes back in a couple weeks, the other new guys, and maybe the Bear come in and do well, Elias comes back and is awesome, and dave learns a lesson.
