His postseason appearances have demonstrated adequately why Chapman is not quite ready to be a starter.
Anybody still think Aroldis Chapman was THAT much better than Yunesky Maya?Postseason: 1.2 IP, 3 hits, 3 (unearned) runs, 1 HBP, 1 K, .300 opponent avg, 0.33 ground/fly outs, 1 blown save
If you were watching the first game, he didn't actually HBP Utley, Utley just pretended it hit him. From then on, terrible defense and BABIP let him down. He is indeed that much better than Yunesky Maya. The appropriate comparison would be to Strasburg, who he isn't as good as because he doesn't have the same command in the zone or control/quality of breaking stuff (slider < Strasburg's curve by a little, changeup << Strasburg's changeup). The other reason is that he has yet to prove he can be consistent enough to be a major league starter, since when he started in the minors he struggled to maintain his velocity and lost control after a few innings. But he is also very young and that could change.
So... anyone watching the remaining NL series? Braves up 1-0 in the 4th.
That Atlanta crowd was amazing.
