I'm less than ten minutes in to Wolf of Wall Street and it's the best movie I've seen in a long time.

I was just about to post that. I'm really loving the vibe of this movie yet I know nothing of it. I hear they may crossover with the Avengers at some point down the line?

They haven't really explored the sci-fi aspect of the Marvel universe before outside of the aliens in Avengers, so this is a risk as it is something different and it does not have familiar characters, but I think it looks good.

disney paid $4 billion for Marvel, so they'll milk it for all they can get. I personally don't like the comedy/sci fi mix, but I'm sure some do, so to each their own

Did they buy the rights to all of Marvel's products, or just the rights to the four previously released Marvel movies? (Iron man 1 &2, Thor, and Captain America)

In that case, they will make their money back by the end of the year.

And imagine the bucks received from a movie that contains both the Guardians of the Galaxy AND the Avengers cast.

Stan Lee has worked there since 1939.

Saw Gravity last night and I'm kind of torn.  On the one hand, the special effects are simply incredible and I wish I had seen it on an IMAX screen to get the best effect, on the other hand, the story was remarkably lame with little to no character development and George Clooney playing Danny Ocean playing an astronaut.

They also royally violated the laws of physics:
the shuttle would have moved at the same rate as the debris field, or at least moved in the same direction, they were orbiting in the opposite direction of normal orbits

There were also issues with their movements in space:

Lots of other issues too, but I don't want to go on a rant here....

When I first heard all the rave reviews about this movie (and knowing nothing about it), I thought it must be a semi-documentary and I was really surprised and proud of the national movie-going audience for elevating an "intelligent" film into the limelight.  Imagine my disappointment when I learned that it was actually just Batman and Miss Congeniality playing Speed in space :?

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra showed this quite clearly with its depiction of sinking ice.

I want to see that, is it on Netflix yet?

Missus wants to see "Non Stop".    I think she has a thing for Liam Neeson.    :)   I wanna stay on the good side and see "Son of God".    ;)     Guess that means we'll go see "Non Stop".

At least you haven't seen/heard/read the story of Non-Stop yet. The story of Jesus has been told ten billion times in every type of medium possible. Oh, and everyone in the world has a thing for Liam Neeson.

Exactly! You know what is gonna happen every time. Boring. However, I guess it is safe to assume that the ending to Non-Stop will be Liam Neeson being awesome and saving the day, so I guess there are no surprises either way.
