Good effort. Only lost by 16.

UMBC down to the wire at Louisville.  Louisville wins by 1.

Yale is at Gonzaga this Friday. The college, not the local high school. Sunday at Loyola Marymount. West coast, not east coast. Won their warm up game against Vassar. Men, not women.

I believe your guys are heavy favorites this season?

Penn beat up on John Jay.  The college.

4 starters back, and they are decent - Knowling, Mbeng, Mahoney, and Poulakidis. Maybe a little too small unless guys like Wolf and Malloy step up. Wolf I think is the one to watch. 7'1" with an outside shot and some beef on D.

Penn lost Dingle but also Martz who would have been their best player after Dingle.

They have one freshman who will start. Perkins who is from Lorton VA. Guard who looks very good.  Assume it will be a major scramble for the last two playoff sports after Yale and Princeton.

Penn knocks off #21 Villanova at the Palestra.  76-72. They actually had a 10 point lead with two minutes left but three straight turnovers and missed free throws almost cost them.  If Jordan Dingle wanted to beat top 20 programs he should have stayed at Penn.

JMU is top 25 right now. That won’t last.

Yale went 1-1 against the WCC, losing at Gonzaga and beating Loyola Marymount U of LA. LMU has a decent program, so that's a good win.

They and Princeton are still the favorites but Penn can give them a run. Penn has Auburn, Houston and Kentucky coming up over the next month or so. Would be nice if they could keep those games close.

Also the Big Fuve has a new format. No round Robin among all the teams.  They added Drexel and created two groups of three. You play the other two teams in your group and then they sees everyone off a triple header in early December.   Unfortunately it’s at the Wells Fargo Center and not the Palestra.

#24 JMU (still feels odd to type that) defeats Radford by 3 in Harrisonburg. Radford went cold in the last couple of minutes after leading most of the 2nd half.

This was a wild one. Temple survives in three OTs and will play St. Joes for the city championship.  Joes beat Villanova. Nova has now lost to Penn and St Joes while beating the top ranked teams they have played.

Radford lost by 1 to ODU in ODU. Another near miss.

They did beat Notre Dame last week (of Maryland).

Villlanova loses to Drexel.  0-3 against the Philly teams. At least this year they only play three instead of four.

you heard about that? I watched it. They could have called traveling on the in bound pass from under the basket because he was moving, but no excuse for the foul when Yale was inbounding with 0.6 seconds left.

For folks wondering, Yale at Vermont, Yale grabs its first lead with less than a minute to play, builds it  up to 5 with 3.8 seconds. Vermont inbounds, goes whole court, scores 2 with 0.6 seconds left. Yale fouls Vermont while trying to inbound the ball after the make, Vermont inbounds it to a shooter behind the 3 point arc, who is fouled with 0.3 seconds left but makes the 3. He then hits the free throw for the 6th point in less than 0.3 seconds to go ahead. Yale inbounds the length of the court but cannot get a final shot off.

UNC Wilmington goes into Lexington and beats Kentucky.  Appalachian State beats Auburn. JMU stays top 25 in most of the polls.

Builds character. They are still Ivy favorites. Penn has managed to lose three OT games so far.  That’s not easy to do without Josh Allen.

at some point, your team and your league need out of conference wins or else you get a 15 seed. Losing head to head to Weber State (OT), URI (road, 4 points decided late), and Vermont (road, meltdown) doesn't help the seeding at the bottom of the bracket, regardless of who is the Ivy champ. Only good wins so far are at Loyola Marymount, Colgate, and a Big South win (Gardner Webb, not top of the league). Still have at Kansas and at Santa Clara on the schedule, along with at Howard, Fairfield and at Quinnipiac, before Ivy play.
