THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Wednesday 7th September 2005 saw the Nats get clobbered at home by the ancestor of these very same Marlins, 12-1, with Dontrelle Willis becoming the Marlins' first-ever 20-game winner...record now 72-68...

Caught the final inning on the radio after getting home from the Mystics (lost 96-68 to an LA Sparks side with four former Mystics on the roster)...let's rally and take the other two fixtures this weekend. I will agree with other posters though that the Marlins these days are rather an unlikable lot.

Consolation prizes: at least the Reds and Orioles lost (and Oakland and Tampa Bay won). Bit healthier attendance than in past days at 28,533; pity they had to see such a stinker.
