I really only ever drink Yuengling.  Once I find something I like I tend to stick with it.

You should live in PA then. They just call it "lager."

I have friends in and from PA.  How do you think I was introduced to it? ;)

Availability of it outside PA has greatly increased in the 5 years since my first bottle, though.

House beer here.  But I don't mind variety, especially if someone else is buying. :)

if you want a better 'lager' try Brooklyn Lager

Yuengling is an ok beer and great in comparison to bud and and miller, but nothing special. Then again I had a roommate in college who insisted that Rolling Rock was the best beer made- to each their own

While everyone's tatses are different, I'll second the motion for Brooklyn Lager.  Definately the best overall beer I've tried.  It appeals to everyone I've seen try it.

Would Brooklyn Lager be available in VA bars?

When Rocket from the Tombs (the band that ultimately split into the Dead Boys and Pere Ubu) played together for the first time ever in DC a few years ago, founding member Dave Thomas (who has lived in England for 20+ years) was delighted that the Black Cat had Yeungling...he said it was the one thing he missed about the U.S.  The crowd made sure that pints of Yeungling kept showing up on stage.  Clearly Yeungling is the official lager of punk rock.

Provided by InBev.

Yuengling is still independent, and still making pre-war style lager. Not the world's greatest, but they have credibility.

but they have credibility.

Their whole trying to claim the entire category of Lager, i.e. "order a Lager and you'll get a Yuengling" kills any credibility for me. As far as Inbev goes- I love Murphy's Stout and could care less that its part of a mega corporation.

They didn't make that up. That's been true for years, and the commercial is new.

They didn't make that up. That's been true for years for a few, small, sparsely populated counties in Pennsylvania, and the commercial is new.

Fixed.

I don't know about everywhere else, but here Yuengling is super cheap too.  Cheaper than Bud, Miller, or Coors.  Only slightly more than the skunk pee beers like Busch, Old Milwaukee, and Millwaukee's Best.

Of all the beers you named, I like Bud best, followed by Yuengling and Coors.  The rest I avoid when possible.

So is Shiner Bock :stir:

Every beer I've ever had from Brooklyn was pricey but tasty.

Shiner Bock

 :spaz:

Along with Rolling Rock, the most overrated beer ever.  It's an insult to the bock genre.  Pisswater, with something brown stirred in.

The only Yuengling I like is Black and Tan. For some reason it just goes down so nice.

Everyone drinks beer for the same or similar reasons, so I say to each their own and down the hatch it goes!  :glug: :icon_mrgreen:
