what does that even mean? How often does the team with the most wins actually win the world series? Why does it matter if the Nats are chasing an NL West team?

Since seeding is a result of your full season performance, it should be easier to beat a 4 seed if you are number 1 seed, than to beat a 1 seed if you are number 4 seed. Sorry...I thought everyone knew that.
