Too bad, this would have been a stolen win if they had held on.

Not too bad. We were down 4-0 and came back. A bit pissed, but happy we came back and made it a game. Let's get them tomorrow!

Riggleman's pissed about the no swing call on Berkman--made no bones about it.

But you know what, that's part of the game. Sometimes a guy gets an extra strike, you still gotta get him.

Start using Storen as the closer.

Capps was throwing too many breaking pitches. He looked a lot like Hanrahan tonight. I hope he snaps out of this slump soon.

That no call was probably due to him regretting throwing Oswalt out of the game last night

why bail on capps now? He got screwed. TWICE. First by Zimmerman, and then by the Ump.

Huh? Replace a closer having an all-star year with a rookie struggling with command? That makes sense.

hahaha why?

Capps is fine. Zimmerman should've made the first out. Then that one call... We shouldn't have been in this one anyway. Stammen sucks.

Do managers send film (or whatever) to the league offices?

That was always part of Joe Gibbs Monday press conference about film sent to league offices about missed calls.

Capps is fine.

It is a question why he avoided his fastball so much that inning.

The Ultimate Punishment, The Final Shinsult,  for losing to the Astros...

The Mets win.  The Marlins win.

...therefore...

The Nationals are alone in last place in the NL East.  >:(

It seems far too familiar.  :|

First time though. We're still with everyone. I have a feeling we'll be second come the end of the month. Easy schedule. Strasburg. Maybe Oswalt. We need to get wins.

OMG, It was him!  Bill Hohn!!!

From Kilgore:

Quote
HOUSTON -- Matt Capps had one foot off the mound, his hand forming into a fist. All of the Washington Nationals' fielders took one step toward the dugout. They all thought they had won Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park, that they had survived, and they looked at the third base umpire for confirmation. Bill Hohn raised his hands -- a ball.

I didn't realize he was 3rd base umpire!

This makes it immeasurably worse.  He wasn't making a call.  He was trying to save his ass from the previous day!

They didn't mention it was Bill Hohn in the post game.  They talked about how Berkman is a veteran and sometimes veterans get those calls and that Roger Bernadina, wouldn't have been struck out.  We didn't need another batter at the plate for them, we needed another umpire on 3rd!

THIS SUCKS SO MUCH!!!

I hate to say it, because Berkman is a top notch person having a very bad year, but you hit him the first time up tomorrow.

I don't know how anyone couldn't have realized it was the same ump at 3B.  The dude is pretty goofy looking + glasses = easy to recognize.

FYI, also the same guy who gave a Marlins catcher a fist bump after the final pitch of a game in which they defeated the Braves last year

Eh, the Ass-tros get 1 extra win in a pathetic season. Hopefully it will wake the guys up to the fact that they need to play better.

As an Angels fan, he tends to eject Scoiscia alot as well. Bill's problem is that on checked swings, he does not get the appeal of the fellow umpires, he just makes the call himself. I remember that Texas-Angel game this past season, when the pitch was made with Izturis was batting, he called a ball originally, then the catcher said it hit the tip of the bat for a foul tip, and guess what happen, he made the foul tip call and he was out. This shows the Bill hates the Angels.
