Nats 3 deadline relievers: 1.17 ERA in 15.1 IP
Braves 3: 10.47 ERA in 16.1 IP

Didn't slate say they were playing chess and the Nats checkers?

First of all, does anyone really take what Slateman posts seriously? :hysterical: But it wasn't Slate that made that comment. But he did post this gem.....

Basically, the Braves totally rebuilt their bullpen at the deadline and gave up 1 prospect in their top 10

Slate takes his own posts seriously. That's why he contradicts himself so much. :hysterical:

Lot of hubris for a team that's 4.5 games back. Oh and small sample sizes.

I still expect the wave we're currently riding to collapse.

If I ever get to this point I would stop being a Nats fan. Why bother.

well, the win streak will end of course. But, things are looking good with Scherzer and Zim coming back soon. Our lineup is tough to beat, and our starting 5 has been great. A rested bullpen, and some competitive fire will make this season different! If UVA can win the NCAA basketball tourney, then the Nats can win in October!

Acuna benched for admiring a ball that didn't go out. Good for his manager for pulling him. I've always said guys who stare at big flies that don't go out have to be some of the dumbest guys in any sport. And, man, it has to be damn embarrassing.

I don't want to sound like some old guy here but guys who admire their home runs are some of the biggest jackasses in sports. Hey, sure, hit a bomb and admire it for a bit but don't be an ass and show off. We all know you hit a homerun. Now show you have some class and good sportsmanship. I know this could be a generational thing here. Cue up the "Hey, you should not given up the homer" idiocy.

If I could hit balls like that against major league pitching, I’d admire every damn one.

I admire the one out of 100 golf shots I hit well, and nearly that good.

There's admiring and there's prancing and preening. I need to just accept that this is a generation of players (really, a generation of people) who love to bring attention to themselves and have different attitudes about showing class and good sportsmanship, etc. It's just the way it is today. I'm not going to sleep over it but it's a turnoff to me. I prefer the players who just hit 'em and put their heads down. We have a lot of those guys on the Nats.

Yep. freak, I pimp my home runs in video games. I hit a dong in MVP 05 and I strut like crazy around my living room. When I K a dude, I'm pumping my fists like crazy.

Imma start working on my dugout dances. Maybe get the family involved.
