The game is 100% on Manny.  Manny had to run his homeboy out there for the second consecutive night because they went out for Enchiladas last night.  Luis needs to be cut tomorrow.  I'm also getting fed up with Milledge.

What does getting Enchiladas have to do with sending Ayala out?

While Shell didnt come in, still surprises me, he didnt come in yesterday so its not like its a rest.

It does lean on Manny though.

Manny said he's going to continue to throw Ayala out there for the next 2 months. He said he's got to use what he's got.

Sucks, but it's true. He's not the one keeping Ayala on the team.

I'd rather have Mock/Clip in his spot. Sucks that we have NO relievers even close to being ML-ready in the entire system. There aren't even many notable relievers in the low levels either.

Carr was supposed to be a good one. :?  He could still turn it around next year, though. He's got a gun.

Yeah, it's going to be Brutal. We are going to be a huge underdog in every single game. If I were to pick the most winnable of the 5 it would probably be tomorrow despite Perez pitching. Francis is just coming off an injury so he may be rusty. Still a tough one for us nonetheless.

Carr and Zinicola are overrated simply because we have zippy relievers in the system.

Carr's '08 numbers:
With Potomac: (3-4, 5 Saves, 6.15 ERA) 26.1 IP 29 H 19 R 18 ER 3 HR 13 BB 31 K
With Harrisburg: (2-1, 10 Saves, 4.94 ERA) 23.2 IP 19 H 13 R 13 ER 3 HR 15 BB 19 K

Zinicola's '08 numbers:
With Potomac: (2-0, 3 Saves, 0.00 ERA) 12.1 IP 3 H 0 R 0 ER 0 HR 3 BB 15 K
With Harrisburg: (3-2, 6 Saves, 2.89 ERA) 18.2 IP 22 H 6 R 6 ER 0 HR 13 BB 13 K
With Columbus: (2-2, 0 Saves, 5.87 ERA) 23 IP 23 H 16 R 15 ER 5 HR 12 BB 12 K

We could pull an Ankiel w/ Carr at some point. Dude was a phenomenal hitter in college (.444 BA w/ 13 HR, a .500 OBP and a .850 slugging percentage).

Interesting. He had a phenomenal year last year (4-1, 12 Saves, 1.78 ERA) between Potomac and Harrisburg. He pitched well in the AFL too. I don't know what's happened to him.

I went to sleep in the middle of the game, and just now saw the box score.

lemme guess...Ayala had a meltdown in the 8th?

Sort of. It all started with a hard luck double by Holliday. With one out in the 8th, Ayala jammed Holliday and the ball blooped into RF into no man's land and it landed right on the line. After that he lost it. He walked a batter and then hit the next batter to lead the bases. Manning came in to relieve but he gave up another bloop single to score two and proceeded to walk the next batter to load the bases. In came Rivera. He walked the first batter he faced and then hit the next batter. It was an overall disaster by the bullpen. The offense was back to its old tricks though. It's so nice to have the "franchise" back in the lineup.

i really hate to say this, but from hearing his pregame comments, especially in response to doing offseason work (he laughs and says "no, when the season is over, I'm done with baseball until next season), I'm slowly becoming convinced that Zimmerman is entirely too comfortable. like he knows he's got it made, no matter what he does or doesn't do.

The normal offense though got screwed by our luck, 2 double plays in 2 innings. Couldve gotten us a run or two, milledges wouldve scored zimmy if it hadnt been low enough for Tulowitzki, lol.

I said it earlier this week as well. They will never be good relievers. At best they will be sort of reliable in some situations. Zinicola is much better than Carr, Carr walks too many and with his fastball he should strike-out more people as well not to mention he plays at AA and is 24 years old and Zinicola is 23 at AAA

Carr was the crap until this season. 24 is still really young for a reliever. He can still figure out whatever messed him up this season and turn it around. He's not a bust yet.

But still walks too many guys for a reliever, especially a reliever who is considered a prospect.
