Yes we can. The Cubs gave up Torres for a rental.

Not sure about that. If those two pieces put the Nats over the top, they're just as valuable as Chapman was to the Cubs.

They're pretty solid when we're up by 18.  Keep it up boys.

Torres > Robles

debatable.  Torres had helium late last year, but going into 2016 MLB.com had Robles at 10 and Torres at 17.  Now Torres is #2 and Robles is #5.  Torres has him beat slightly in both batting tools but Robles is significantly faster and a better defensive CF than Torres is a SS.  Really the difference in value is that Torres is a SS which certainly gives him a boost, but that could be offset if Robles is a GG caliber CF with equal or better offense to Torres.

Keep using starters for 4 innings to finish games.

Calling it. Won't be an issue until everyone is healthy.

They won't (and should not) DFA him. Put him on the DL.

Cheeeeeerisssste! (did I do that right?)

You guys are trying to get rid of very player that has ever thrown me a ball at BP.

I called that in the closer thread.  Phantom DL for sure.  But not until Solís and Glover are back.

Why the "phantom DL" hasn't been used yet is beyond me.

Relevant to note-Nathan has been awful in AAA, not a viable option there.

I hope Rizzo is working the phones and we get a solution sooner than later.

I think, much like Papelbon, it has to become painfully obvious to those controlling the purse strings that the dude is hopeless. Phantom DL him or DFA him, either way, you still have to pay him and you still have to pay someone to replace him, and if it were my money, I'd say Oh Hells No. You have to have evidence that not only is the dude bad, he's consistently bad, and he's not likely to get better.  And then you still have to hope to get the ok to dump him.

Not looking to start a "Lerners are cheap" debate because really we're talking about the better part of $4 million here, and they didn't get to be rich by just dumping big chunks of money like that without being absolutely sure that there was no way to right the ship.

Nathan had one really bad inning, and two not so ok innings in AAA. The rest of the time he has been decent. Scouts are saying he is touching 94 on his fastball. Not that I would like to see him, but I trust him more than Treinen at this point. Blanton needs that "phantom DL" stint and a rehab assignment to get his mechanics fixed.

So by this logic, we should hand Zimmerman the MVP trophy now?

Of course not.  Good is ephemeral, bad is permanent.  NAWNFFNF

Thanks for the detailed feedback there, very useful info.

Relievers are such a crapshoot. Unless you're a Nats reliever, in which case you're just crap, shiiiite.

I guess we've come to the point where Sunshine Squad can be called Sunnies, and LOD can be called Shiiite.
