2013 TV Coverage
« Topic Start: February 11, 2013, 09:36:16 AM »
MASN just announced that they will simulcast 20 games on WUSA 9 this season, so their long-standing partnership with Channel 50 must be over.  The games shown on 9 will include Opening Day and select weekend games.

I remember the Schaefer beer jingle "Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one"

I had a girlfriend back in those days who's last name was Schaefer. I used to sing to her "Schaefer is the one girl to have when you're having more than one" and she would slap the hell out of me.

The old Brooklyn-brewed Schaefer was tasty - nice and hoppy, perfect for a hot afternoon.

I'm old enough to remember when Channel 5 had the Senators.  Pregame show called 'Dugout Chatter' with Bob Wolf.

For some of us, it was a different Channel 9 . . .

Eh, Channel 9 has gone way downhill ever since the great Glenn Brenner passed on...

Channel 7 has been headed that way with Tim Brandt in charge covering baltimore's birds.

Yes.

That’s the same number of games that have been available over-the-air in recent years, but the CBS affiliate brings a somewhat more notable profile than the Nats’ previous over-the-air home, WDCW.

From MASN's website, here is the list of games FOX will be picking up.  These are usually 4:05 Saturday games, but they sometimes they switch the schedule up and the FOX games air at 7:05.

April 13: Braves at Nats
April 20: Nats at Mets
April 27: Reds at Nats
May 4: Nats at Pirates
May 25: Phillies at Nats
June 1: Nats at Braves
June 15: Nats at Indians
July 13: Nats at Marlins
July 27: Mets at Nats

We're finally getting some love from the national media - four consecutive Saturdays early in the season :)

As a reminder, FOX games are regional coverage.  They typically have 4-6 games they pick up - each team's market will get to see their respective team's game, then they fill in the coverage in other areas of the country based on whatever game they feel will get the best ratings.  The games against the Barves should get top billing; the game against the MiAAmi Marlins, maybe not so much...

Definitely listening to Charlie and Dave those days, last year the broadcasters were just annoying. Especially during Nats/Braves games.

Agreed.  The biggest drawback to national network games is the announcers.  I'd rather listen to Bob and F.P.  I'd really prefer Charlie and Dave if I could sync up the radio broadcast with the video.

I love Bob and F.P., I'm very excited to hear them again in a few weeks.

Bob and FP are okay,  Charlie and Dave are so good, that the tv broadcast seems worse than it is

I'll be considering getting that fancy MLB.TV premium subscription if I'm out of the state over the summer so I can enjoy a couple of broadcasts with C&D. However I think that both the TV team and the radio team have their fair share of awesome and funny banter. I really liked some of the in-jokes F.P. managed to create last year and I hope he continues the tradition. It rewards those who tune in every day.

I'm guessing I won't get many of those Saturday games in Nebraska land.

I don't mind the network announcers as a change of pace and to get some perspective on how the rest of the country views the Nats.
