Thanks Natsie. I guess my Crystal Palace gang has no chance again this year. I see Zaha is no longer with them. City did look tough again today.

Comcast no longer offers free Peacock but they have it at a discounted $2.99 a month so signed up for that. Something to watch on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Brentford is the low budget "moneyball " team playing value in the signings and sales, right?

More to it, than just that. The club have been effectively managed both on (by the Dane, Thomas Frank) and off the park. Not sure they would be where they are without Frank.

The Premier league's version of the Rays. They were no stronger than 7th in London until this run. Arsenal Chelsea Spurs West Ham for starters

Fly Eagles Fly.

Crystal Palace dominates Sheffield on the road and wins 1-0. Onward and upward.

Just in case you missed it - further US investment into English soccer. Tom Brady has bought a stake in Championship side Birmingham City, and the 49'ers have taken full ownership of Leeds Utd.

Saw the story on Brady. He’s like a bad nickel that keeps showing up.

Just wait until Dan Snyder decides to spend some of the $6 billion he got from selling the Redskins/WFT/"Commanders".

Note that poor Harry Kane relegated himself to a minor league, where the Munich team will win a trophy, of sorts...because they always win their equivalent of an AAA league.

I know that the Bundesliga is not as strong too to bottom but they seem to do fine in the champions league. He will have a shot at that also.

Spurs looked OK even without Kane but with James Maddison and under their new coach, Ange Postecoglu.

they show The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to underperforming teams not only as a motivational tool but also as a documentary.

Well that was quite a finish to the Leagues Cup.  Ten penalties for Miami to win. Every shot was on goal. No flubs.

Despite some initial skepticism about the expanded format, I enjoyed this one.  Some impressive runs by dark horses - I was unable to watch all of the games live like I was able to do when 20 years younger (I watched every game on the 2002 Japan/Korea WC in real time without missing a day of work), but if one remembered to stay off news in the morning it was possible to at least feel like it was live.

Oh yuck.

It does seem weird that Spain won after all the controversy about their team.

We cheered for England -- even got up at 6am -- but Spain looked quicker, stuck tighter when England had the ball. Better team. But the Spanish organization is lower than dirt.

All credit to Spain - they were the better side. My only issue is a competiton integrity one, that FIFA really should address. Of course Spain looked sharper - because they were (essentially) the all conquering Barcelona Women's team playing in Spain shirts. If one team plays together week-in, week-out, then they'll always have that greater cohesion and understanding than all the other teams, who are made up of players from a variety of clubs, and who only get together a few times a year. I hope Spain's success doesn't lead all of the major leagues to follow suit, otherwise it'll become the Champions League played in national shirts...

Well I didn’t cheer against them. Or get up at 6am. That should count for something.
