It's not exactly a Chamber of Commerce day.

The Boca Airport hit an all-time low last night - 37.  Considering that we bundle up and whine if it goes below 70, it's brutal.  We don't have much in the way of blankets, so I got up in the middle of the night and got a bunch of beach towels to bundle up in.  I even had to put on shoes to take the garbage cans out to the curb.  Emily got up, it was 69 inside the house, and she was walking around in her ski jacket.

We are going up to the mid 60's today; it's currently 44.  Our normal high/low is 75/58, and we should be back to those temps tomorrow.

Sally made a nice homemade batch for me.  Had homemade matzo balls and noodles, too.

When I was a kid, I remember visiting one of my mum's college buddies who lived in some decrepit apartment in an old art deco building in South Beach (Miami)...probably some hipster haven full of the jet set by now, but seedy and roachy back then.  Anyways, we woke up the next morning to fresh snow.  Needless to say, the locals were rather freaked out.

Cold snap causes iguanas to fall out of trees

KEY BISCAYNE - How cold was it in South Florida this week? Cold enough to cause iguanas to drop out of trees on Key Biscayne.

The cold-blooded reptiles go into a deep sleep when the temperature falls into the 40s. Experts say their bodies basically shut off and they lose their grip on the tree.

It is more like suspended animation than sudden death. Experts say the reptiles perk up when the temperatures rises.

I've heard it raining "cats and dogs"

There's even a song that says "Its raining men"

I've never heard of raining "iguanas"!

Must be something to do with a GEICO commercial!   ;)

Wow, that is a new one for me, too. Poor things (depending on how tall the trees are)!
