Would love to hear C&D call the circus.  Saw the Houston tv call, they sounded completely unsurprised.

I am still laughing over that bunt play - everyone who's a baseball fan needs to watch that one.  If I understood correctly, Bernadina ran through Porter's stop sign and that turned out great for the Nats.  Jackson pitched well enough to win.  The bullpen looked very iffy.  All in all when things are going your way, they work out as they did for the Nats tonight.  Crazy game but I'll gladly take the win!

Storen didn't look any better.

I can't speak for tonight, he looked good when he closed the 9th against the Marlins a day or two ago though.

And Ray questioning the BP moves. Davey needs to start trying to let his BP on the games where the SP cruises.

Just listening to the recap on the postgame show.  Charlie was great - he had to try really hard to stop laughing towards the end :clown:

I was certainly laughing in my living room.  Though I really understand what Astros fans are going through this year, watching their team invent new ways to lose.

I question ever going to Gorzelanny.  Sometimes he comes on strong, others, well not so much.  We have lots of fly ball guys on the staff and I feel that next year (it won't happen now being this close to the playoffs considering there is no one out there of good value as a waiver claim) we need to cut ties with Gorzy and bring in a vet righty in the pen who happens to be a ground ball guy.

Did anyone else hear them talking about the oranges, roundabout the fourth/fifth inning? That was great.

I don't think Gorzelanny stays next year. $3M is already too much to pay a long reliever.

Here is the video clip with MASN, WJFK and Houston broadcasters (not sure if it's tv or radio).

Why does Johnson pull that DOUBLE SWITCH crap when he never leaves a pitcher in for more than 3 outs?

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 66th win, each season:

2012 - 6th August (109th match of season)
2005 - 24th August (126th match)
2011 - 9th September (142nd match)
2007 - 15th September (148th match)
2006 - 19th September (151st match)
2010 - 24th September (154th match)
---
2008 - finished 59-102
2009 - finished 59-103

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Saturday 6th August 2005 at RFK...another day, another one-run loss despite an hour-and-three-quarters meeting called by manager Frank Robinson...3-2 to the Padres...record now 58-52...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250806120

---

We stole one tonight thanks to a clown play by the Astros defence, running their record in extra innings to 0-10...more solid play will be necessary from here on in.

So, OC, if we hit 82 on the win total, does the comparison stop? does it flip over to a magic number post?

Not sure as yet - have been thinking about continuing on to comparison with the AL Nats. (When we hit 86 wins we'll have matched the best of Version 2.0, 1969.)

I was hoping it would reboot with a mix of historic teams if and when it surpases our own records.

Ayup.  That's like a tune from "Peewee's Playhouse" or some scene with Divine wearing a bikini in a John Waters movie.

I never knew we had a theme song.  My God, that is dreadful.

The present thread is, in fact, the 22nd such thread this season (the top one thus far was the Dodgers away opener with 2075 replies).

As this team grows, so grow the WNFF GDT's.
