Verily, 'tis the most benevolent of umpires who puncheth out the batter when 'tis only Ball Three.

(seriously, watch the sequence for Pap's second out -- he didn't throw a single strike to that batter. Thanks ump!)

It doesn't work as well as one might suspect.

13-4 seems decent.  Didn't get to see the game but who the hell wore Roark's jersey and pitched today? Because we should sign that guy immediately.

Someone with dark hair and without a beard. Must be named NotRoark. The strikeouts were amazing, but the result seemed Roark-like otherwise.

However, none of these Nat pitchers will break Tom Cheney's MLB record if they only go 7 innings and only throw 120 pitches. September 12, 1962, 17 innings and 228 pitches. See:

Roark has pitched that sharp before.  Less strikeouts, but he didn't walk anyone in another game.  His ball had some late movement today.

He probably got fed up (again) with some of us trying to humanize him.

Where's BiL to incessantly nag about how much he personally hates Papelbon?

Simmer down. I was at the game and I don't post from the park. It's nice to know I was missed. ;)

And Papelbon is still a douchebag.
