I’m just hoping he’s as good as Vargas.

I haven't really seen him enough to know, how does House compare defensively with Lipscomb? I know Lipscomb has played 3B and 2B in the minor leagues, but is the plan to have Lipscomb to 2B and House comes up at 3B? I hope both guys are part of the core of our future so I am curious where we will slot them both in.

I think House taking over 3rd is the hoped for end product. I don't know how he has looked defensively at 3rd, but he was a shortstop and wasn't moved until CJ came on board. I think there's some links up thread discussing his D. [found it - https://www.wnff.net/index.php?topic=39457.300;msg=2307442]. In the FG report, he's projected as a 60 fielder, which is darn good. the report has him not only as capable of playing 3rd, but a "potentially an impact defender."

As for Trey, I think the plan for him is to keep him multi-positional. Whether that is as a "super-utility" Zobrist type or whether that is just as more bench utility sub will depend on his hitting and also on how Garcia and perhaps Baker perform.

From what I've read Lipscomb has good range but doesn't have the arm to be a plus defender at 3rd (see his bounced throws to first in the first series). For House it's his second best tool after his power. Part of what makes him a top-100 prospect is his glove as his hit tool leaves a bit to be desired.

So maybe Arenado would be a decent comp for House (probably not as good defensively but in that mold)?

That makes sense and sounds like a good plan for both players, thanks.

Brady House still has star potential in case anyone was wondering lol. He’s having a DAY

2-2, 3B, HR, BB so far.

Yeah, that's a pretty good day. :)

Finishing this product will be fun to watch this year and next.

My sunshiney dream is to have all 3 of him, Crews, and Wood in MLB by 8/20 to finish out this season with some MLB experience and to have positions sewn up for 2025. Even if you view the owners as not being willing to spend, having so many guys as regulars in pre-arb, early arb, or long term contract leaves very few spots that will be needed to be filled by FAs.

He ended last season in Harrisburg strong as well. I think he is on pace to be int he majors this year and is a big time prospect.

Great bounceback for a kid I wrote off after his injury that made him disappear for a while in Fredericksburg.

Seems like Dylan Crews has inspired him with the 70s 'stache.

If his lower K rate holds up past 100-150 ABs, have to think about getting him to Rochester...as long as player development > service time manipulation.

that's not dominating AA.

He's a 20 year old in his 2nd full season in the minors after missing most of 2022 with an injury. Last time I checked, the average age of a minor leaguer in AA was 23.

sure, I'm not saying bust. I'm saying his performance is not kicking the door to the majors or even AAA down just yet.

I agree. But I'm very happy with where he is right now at this stage of his development. Reaching the majors in 2025 is probably more likely than not.

House is hitting .230 now. He might work up to AAA come August or next season, but he won't be in Washington, except for publicity visits, for a good while.

On the plus side his BB rate has jumped to nearly 12% while his strikeouts have dropped a bit. Still sporting a .321 OBP and a .700 OPS. At least league average if not setting AA on fire. Still only 20 years old.

No reason to hurry this guy. He's young. And our infield is busy right now. Abrams is playing every day. House shouldn't be shunted to first to get his bat up here fast. The Nats need to keep Lipscomb involved. Senzel probably gets some more 3B burn. And, strangely, I want to see more Garcia at 2B.

I think if we get into July and August and Brady House is hitting well in AA and in the majors Lipscomb is holding his own at 3B, then maybe it is to start experimenting with Brady House at in the corner outfield.
