Ouch...Coventry scores two quickly.
So your saying Coventry gets to bomb its enemy this time?

Well the dream ends.

Announcers full of praise for Maidstone. Coventry crowd cheers them.

As a prelude to today's game - a different game in different times. Worth a read just for the McIlvanney quote.... ;)

Wow. What did the ref say after the game?

Nothing - in those days refs were not expected, or encouraged, to make any comment about a game. The players (from later comments) clearly felt he just wanted to let them get on with it.

So many bodies flying from kicks to the knee or shins...looks like a Redskin game with a fair amount of NFL-type tackling.

I will root for Coventry out of the Final 8 in the FA Cup.  Just because.

How are the mighty fallen...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68436828

Quote
Pogba said he believed the verdict was "incorrect" and he would "never knowingly or deliberately" dope.

"When I am free of legal restrictions, the full story will become clear," he said, adding he would appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas).

"As a professional athlete I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against."

Shirley Povich pointed to the "protein shakes" that had become popular in MLB clubhouses, in Shirley's last column. he had argued that Mark McGwire was not the greatest slugger of all time.

I guess Pogba has been drinking the same protein shakes. McGwire and Bonds and the rest claim that they would never take any sort of performance enhancing substance.

He might have. Bonds has not. And Pogba's "defense" reminds me of Fernando Tatis, the sadly weird San Diego Padre:
Quote
On 12 August 2022, Tatís was suspended for 80 games after testing positive for Clostebol, an anabolic steroid. He stated this was from a medication he took to treat ringworm that he did not check for steroids, though skepticism arose from that claim.

Watching this DC United game from Cincinnati reminds me of watching football coverage from old Texas Stadium with its hole in the roof. The shadows make for a broadcast where either half the field is overexposed or half is in such dark shadow that you can’t see anything.

But then, the high winds have cause the power to cut in and out multiple times such that my Apple TV restarts each time, so who knows how much of the game I might wind up missing if this continues.

Remember the Columbus Crew playing at Ohio State's football field? That was a weir look, with the narrow "pitch".

Three from three...

Those chants are going to be lots of fun at the World Cup.

Watching replay of the game. Mexico thought it had a penalty late in the game but then replay showed their guy went down in the box without being touched.  Then they gave him a yellow card for simulation.  LOL.  Gio Reyna lols great.  Can’t understand how he does not get playing time in Europe.  Berhalter probably had his job saved with that game.

A set of Premier League games tomorrow and Wednesday. This has been a great season.

- Three good teams at the top, all battling to finish first. Aston Villa and Spurs fighting for fourth; fifth place might also got to CL.

- A couple of teams competing for the extra European competition

- Bottom four or five teams trying to avoid relegation. Looks like the three that got promoted will go back, but Nottingham Forest and Everton have had points deducted for violating the profitability rules.
