Because we just don't have enough injuries this year......

Per Dan Kolko, Mattheus has been battling pain in his left foot for the last two weeks, he's getting x-rays today after it flared up in pre-game warmups.  Comak adds that the Nats hope it is just Planter Fasciitis.   Wang will be with the team tomorrow and could be activated to replace him.

That is badass.  Activating 2XL Wang mumu for service just in case.

Sore left foot? I think this an excuse to get Wang in the bullpen so the Nats don't have two sinkerballers in the pen.

Planter Fasciitis hurts like hell. I could barely walk when I had it, let alone play sports.

Lingers for a long time, too.  Not like we've got a lot of depth in the pen right now either.

It's a trick. He's on the DL getting paid so Wang can be activated.

Perry and HRod both stay with the Nats because Mattheus is hurting? There has to be someone in AAA...

Seen a lot of guys try to play through the pain of Planter Fasciitis. Seen far fewer succeed.

I've had it. Played softball only because of the adrenalin of playing against 25-year-old kids I had coached in Little League. Out-ran a couple to make diving tag-outs. After the game I couldn't walk.

Conclusion: Mattheus can pitch through it if maybe they shoot some painkiller into his foot and he is crazy. Neither sounds good.

[Just skimmed Syracuse stats, which say that the best Syracuse pitcher, by far, is..................................... .............................

severino could be a decent stop-gap if we need another bullpen arm.

This wont happen but Mattheus to the DL , Detwiler to the pen as he really has been inconsistent his last two starts and Wang to the rotation.

By the time Mattheus is ready Lidge could be back and Perry to Syracuse. When Storen returns who knows. HRod to Syracuse? I think he would clear waivers at this point.

I am still one over the seven RP. Maybe Mattheus goes to Syracuse when Storen returns.

My girlfriend, who is a fitness junkie, is suffering from it right now. It's pretty painful.

Yup, same here.

Knock on Phil Wood, it hasn't flared up in a while.

The #Nats will put Ryan Mattheus on the DL with plantar Fasciitis and reinstate Chein-Ming Wang from the DL according to a baseball source.

 Though I don't know how Wang will be of any use in the pen.

It sidelined the Wizards' Trevor Booker for much of last season.

Per Craig Heist, Mattheus to the DL, Wang is with the team in Philly and will be reinstated today.  I'm updating the thread title.

Man, this can hurt like a nag and, as has been mentioned, linger quite a while. So painful for such a minor problem.
