I'm feeling better about keeping my Hassell stock even as it hit penny stock levels. There may be a bump left.

His ISO is about the same as it was last year, he's a ground ball/line drive hitter and isn't going to bring a ton of pop.  But the reduction in his K rate is impressive, which only started to spike after the trade from the Padres org.  He fits the mold of the player who does well in this org and wouldn't surprise me if he's in Rochester before Crews, and possibly MLB.

I think you are right. Best I remember, Hassell was supposed to be what he looks like now: line drive hitter, quick base-runner, good fielder. All good.

Hit his second dinger today.

Promising uptick here. I am feeling more bullish on my early prediction for him
I get shorter Jayson Werth vibes. Good number of steal. Double digit homer power, not reliant on power. Feels too good defensively for the corner, but maybe not best fit for CF.
I'm not as bullish on him as I was a couple years ago, but I'm still hopeful he makes it to the majors as a backup OF.

Saw him last night. There’s a world of difference in the way he approaches the plate this year compared to last year. He’s much more disciplined, and looks more confident. Last year, he looked horrible, swinging (and missing) at everything. It got to the point where he clearly lost his confidence - he looked defeated standing at the plate, even before he saw the first pitch. I think the thumb injury last year affected him more than anyone knew, including him. He’s a different guy this year.

OPS up to .905 right now. Really great to see him living up to the hype.

Another couple of weeks and its time for promotions. Wood to the Show, Hassell to AAA

Hassell bouncing back after completely dropping off all top prospect radars is huge.

That is a big, big change in the results from the Soto trade.

If the Nats got 4 players out of that deal, that would be almost unheard of.

that's a nice line in Wilmington, which is in a league that's tough for power.

I don't know much about it but could it be the wholesale changes they made throughout the organization on the people responsible for player development be at least partially responsible for the uptick in players performance at the minor league level?
