Repeating myself: Dominic Smith never hit well enough to win a starting job with the Mets. He had a respectable short season in 2020, but he was supposed to be the 1B of the future, year after year. Then Pete Alonso appeared.

Ward seems pretty good, but the Nats have needed hittin ever since the 2021 sell-off.

Yea. They should just DFA him. Seems like a nice guy and a slick fielder but you need some power from 1B.

150 wRC+ between 2019 and 2020. Just couldnt stay healthy.

Just thought Ward was a meh Rule 5 pick because he was a starter who hadnt been stretched out and couldnt be sent down to the minors for it. Especially with a guy like Noda right there and the need at first base.

OPS in the .600s, except for 2020 and 2019. Both seasons he had 177 ABs. That's who Smith is. He was a backup 1B on an NL team before the DH.
