Wow, what a hawg.

The fish is now the Maryland state record, but I wonder if it was actually caught in Maryland.  There's only a couple hundred yards of Md. water above the Wilson Bridge before you are in DC.  Many a fisherman has been cited for failure to have a DC license should they wander a little too far north.  He may have caught it in DC and recorded it in Maryland, or not even known he was in DC.

I couldn't even find a list of DC records, they may not keep any.

I tried the link for the list of stocked trout streams in Maryland, but got a deadend. :(

Thanks Tom! Figured you would have it if anyone did. I wonder when/if Sligo Creek and Rock Creek will be clean enough to stock?

One of my best childhood memories is when my brother Jeff, 5 years younger, and I "borrowed" a cement mixing tub we "found" and poled our way up Northwest Branch from New Hampshire Avenue to the dam. I ended up pushing him for a good bit of the way.

JIJI....I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE ABOUT SMOOT

It almost was.  Smoot Cove is just south of the bridge, where National Harbor is being built.  This bass was caught just north of the bridge.  Please note, Redskin fans, that we bass fishermen had "Smoot" to go to long before Fred was even born.
