Potomac-Myrtle (8th inning):  King leads off the innings.  He goes down looking on strike three.  Burgess repeats with a strikeout of his own.  The Myrtle pitcher, Fellman, has now struck out three of the four Potomac batters he has faced.  The magic doesn't continue for Fellman, as he falls to Jon Solano and his mighty mighty bat. HOME RUN!  First HR of the post-season for Potomac's everyday catcher.  Lyons ends the inning with a chopper to the SS Hicks, one more run closer....

Jack Spradlin will take over for Gunderson in the bottom of the 8th.  The first batter knocks one to the warning track, but it doesn't go far enough.  Out #1.  Spradlin quickly finishes off the next two batters, sending Potomac to the top of the 9th for their last three chances at a comeback in game #2.  The bullpen has been amazing for Potomac throughout the playoffs.

P-Nats 4, Pelicans 6

Due Up:  Lyons (2-4, 2 SO, R) - Martinez (2-4, 2 RBI) - Lefave (0-3, BB)

Have I mentioned what a great game both catchers are calling?

Any team called Pelicans should lose every single game they ever play.

The should call the team the FARTS or the IDIOTS...

P-Nats lose. Game 3 with Detwiler on the mound on Thursday should be intense. I'll probably go.

Damn, they made a good comeback.  Mandel just left them in too big of a hole.  They should be able to take the series lead with Detwiler on the mound and IF the bullpen continues to pitch like it has been.  I wish I would be here to go.

I saw some people catch a Pelican once. They had him tied down to a wooden pole and then I heard a little girl in their group say they were going to eat it. That crap didn't sound right to me so when they weren't looking I snuck around and cut him loose.

Good move.  I would have tried to do the same.

freak. We suck.

A very winnable game that we blew because of poor managerial decisions and crappy pitching.

Holy cow Chief. The one I saw seemed mild. He didn't even object when they caught him. He was floating on the water when the people approached and nabbed him. Maybe he was too frightened to resist but I set him free anyway so it worked out in the end.

I don't know if it's a good idea to eat a pelican anyway.

I will be gone for four months, hopefully I can figure out how to get internet where I am going (Africa and Central Europe) but there are no guarantees there.  At the very least, I will be able to check in at internet cafes (gotta know what is going on in the instructional leagues/AFL).  The seven months was more in reference until the start of the season in March/April.
Well, four months shouldn't be too bad. At least you aren't missing the playoffs. :D
I'll still miss you, though. Your absence will make it harder for cooler heads to prevail in some of our inane disputes.

Say, are they going to bring the feral cats infesting Shea Stadium to the new ball park?

Just got home and was about to give up on the game and go watch the new 90210, but noticed Ayala warming up for the Mets -- there's hope yet  :D

Yes sir and it's going to piss me off like it does every time he produces for them.

Can't stand Ayala one bit anymore. I've lost all respect for the man. Dude was absolute trash for us and as soon as he puts on a Mutts uniform he turns into a lights out closer. Scum.

Hey, it's nice of him to help us get Strasburg.

In other news, Mike Hinckley has a really sexy ERA right now.

Weird DP.

Nice job of Nieves selling it.

Now why didn't Manny put in Hinckley earlier when the lead was still intact as opposed to Manning?
