'08 Olympics: USA - Korea
« Topic Start: August 13, 2008, 01:24:46 PM »
Anyone watching?  We're down 2-1 in the bottom 3rd.

Rangers catcher Taylor Teagarden (who made his MLB debut a few weeks ago) threw a bullet to pick off a runner, who would've scored.  Anywho man on 2b for Korea with one out.  Future Nats first pick overall next season Strasburg hasn't pitched yet.

oh crap. Martis is starting for Netherlands against Strasburg who is starting for the U.S.

Game just started at 10:30. I'm watching online.

Martis struck out 2 in the first.

holy freak is Strasburg amazing. Struck out the side in the first with ease. He made the first two hitters look like fools with curve balls and then blew an ELECTRIC fastball past de Caster for the third out.

Strasburg would crap on Detwiler and Crow.

Martis just gave up a solo shot but he got 2 more Ks. He's got 4 Ks through 2 innings so far. His fastball is topping near 93 and his slider is a great complimentary pitch.

Martis gives up a 3-run HR to LaPorta. Disappointing sequence of pitching by Shairon. He had him down 0-2 but just could not put him away and after several pitches the count runs full and LaPorta rocks an inside fastball to deep LF.

NBC Olympics website has the live stream.

Strasburg's up to 10 Ks now and he tossed just six pitches in the sixth inning. This guy is good.

The guy who came in to relieve Martis sucks: he just allowed a runner on first to score via three wild pitches.

Strasburg's no-hit bid is over.

Also, the commentator says our very own Yurendell de Caster is the Netherlands' best hitter.

Strasburg looked amazing in the US-Dutch game.  His mechanics are oh so smooth and he has the stuff to compliment them.  7 scoreless innings, 11 strikeouts, he was making the Netherlands look silly.  I hope we get to see him again, pure entertainment.

Taped the 2-6am highlights - gonna put them on now. Of course, they screwed the times up AGAIN so I only got 90 mins of the game.

The game ended up 7-0 in favor of the US. It was called after 8 innings due to 2 rain delays. The Netherlands protested because they had the bases loaded with no outs in the 9th but the protest was rejected. I'm pretty sure they will be re-airing the game this afternoon on MSNBC.
