Probably not so much when compared to John Michael Liles of the Avs who got 4 mil per year. Green had more points, comparable but better +/-, and played 5-6 more minutes per game

If you really think Yvon Labre is "GREAT," then you don't know much about the Caps. Anton's dad, Bengt, is one of the most popular and one of the best Caps players of all time.

We signed Jose Theodore to a two-year contract. That was quick. Now we just need to sign Huet and we're good to go on the goalie front.

Huet is going elsewhere (Chicago?). I wish we had brought him back but the sides could not work it out. Hopefully Theodore serves as an adequate bridge to our young goalies for 2 years.

Brent Johnson who is already signed for next season and will be the back-up goalie.

Well, his 2.44 GAA in 53 games last season is great, but I really wanted to keep Huet here. At least we got a guy that we know can play at this level.

Oh well. Huet played great for us. I think the combo of Johnson and Theodore will be OK. Johnson kinda got shafted. I think he could be better than Kolzig as a regular. He just wasnt ridiculously better than him like Huet (who had a hot streak while here) and could never unseat him as the starter. I think there will be more competition among our goalies this year with a decent split of playing time. Theodore's contract is short enough for him to stay motivated

For the money and the years, this works out great for us. We can use the extra money to sign Fedorov if we want and re-sign laich and shamo. also, in 3 years Varlamov and Neuvirth will be ready to step in for cheap when we have to sign backis and semin

The comment about Labre was TOTALLY tongue-in-cheek. I know VERY WELL who Bengt is, and he doesn't belong in the rafters either.

Labre was not a great player. In fact, it's hard to even say he was an above average player. But he had a lot of heart. He played hard, he gave his all. I don't think I ever saw him win a fight, but he never backed down from one either. He was the most inspirational player on some horrible teams. As such, he was much beloved by the fans, and the retirement of his jersey I think was a good thing.
