With my ballot, I tried to find a balance between who's doing the best this season vs. who's the best player...

And of course I couldn't resist slipping a few Nats into the mix.

Sure but that doesn't mean we throw objectivity or sound baseball sense out the window. Or are we also going to push for Milledge at CF and Lopez at 2B?

I voted for Jones each time I've voted so far.  Should I throw away my Nationals hat and sell the rest of my tickets?

I'd love to vote for Zimmerman over Jones, but I can't.  Even if Jones wasn't having an amazing year there are several third basemen I'd easily pick over him.  The honest truth is, nobody on this roster deserves the trip to New York, not even our beloved "best young player in baseball."

If Flores has an awesome June - maybe 6 or 7 homers, 15 RBI, and he maintains that .900+ OPS - he would probably deserve to be the third catcher.

WHEN will the baseball world recognize ryan zimmerman?!!! the best young player in baseball/best defensive player in baseball isn't even one of the top 5 vote getters. ty wigginton and bill hall are ahead of zimmerman, what a joke. unless i single handedly vote enough to get zimmerman in, our all star is gonna be tim redding.  :-[

i guess guzy could make a solid case to be an all star too.  :?

It'll probably be 4+ years until Zimmerman gets in the top 3 or 4 in voting for third basemen. He's pretty much always going to have to rely on being put on the team as a reserve.

Zimmerman will get recognition once the Nats get recognition, which won't happen until we win an NLDS at the very least.

Nope; most if not all people who voted for Zimmerman wouldn't vote for the same person otherwise.  Voting for Nader is a vote taken away from the Democratic candidate (you could count Nader Republicans on one hand)...

As usual, the voters aren't getting it right.  I am glad Soto is leading the catchers, he deserves to be the NL starter (imagine me, praising a Cubs player!! ).  But the outfield voting is screwed up.  Soriano has had a good month.  He was out for over a month.  Defensively, he's horrible, and is hot/cold offensively.  Fukodome would be an all star IF all his games were played at Wrigley Field.  When the Cubs are on the road, he sucks.  Pence and McClouth are having much better seasons than these two, and arguably, Burrell deserves a shot ahead of them.  I understand the sympathy for Griffey Jr, but he doesn't belong in the starting lineup either.  I realize part of the allure of the All Star game is having your "big stars" in regardless of current performance (or at least that's what the fan vote has made it become).  But there are many NL outfielders who deserve to start ahead of the current 3 top vote getters.

As for the AL, I would argue that Crede is currently the best AL 3rd baseman (I know you're all surprised), and that Quentin and Hamilton deserve shots ahead of the current vote getters in the outfield.  I also think the Red Sox and Yankee love fests are getting old.

How can we vote for any Nats? When I see the advertisement to vote for the Nats and it shows Lo Duca's name I start cracking up. I would vote for him in the 'Futures Game' On opposites day

Ramirez had been a nasty slump over the previous 16 games: 11 for 63 (.175) with an OBP of .268 and 24 K and 1 single solitary RBI going into tonight.  Fortunately for the Fish, Cody Ross had a notable May: 10 HR and 18 RBI in only 50 AB.
