That 1-0 pitch to Giles was a strike. Why in the freak is that donkey umpire turning his head to look at the crowd on pitches right on the corner of the plate?

You saw it?! He's been doing that all game. It's a split second before the ball hits the glove. An ump is supposed to wait. I hate that crap.

I know Hill still has to buckle down when sh!t hits the fan, but this umpire is not doing him any favors whatsoever.  His pitch count is so high b/c of his lack of strike zone judgement.

Yes he is. It almost makes me want to turn the game off. Nothing pisses me off more to see the men in blue directly determine the outcomes of games.

And usually you can give credit to a catcher when he's framing pitches.  Flores doesn't need to - the pitches are right in the strike zone - and the home plate ump can't see it.

I think we have to. He didn't look too bad that inning, though.

I'm pretty sure there's some tightness in his arm, but just like with Saul Rivera yesterday ... I'm sure crappy calls helped out in Hill's meltdown in the 3rd inning there.

Even if Hill is one of the more composed pitchers out there.

F U Lopez. Hill works a long AB and then the lead-off hitter hits a little grounder back to the pitcher on 1 pitch. Lopez' ass should be released. He's a cancer.

No doubt Hill lost command during that inning but if the umpire is not a complete biased jackass Shawn gets out of that inning without allowing a single run.

Lopez needs to be on the bench.  He's absolutely awful.

The Nats need chemo in the form of a new hitting coach. (Is that wrong? I didn't mean it to be.)

In past years, we would be down by 5+ at this point. Our starters have worked themselves out of some pretty bad situations this season.

Now he decides to call a strike. That pitch earlier to Barrett that cost us 2 runs was a better pitch than that one. Son of a nag.

Good job, SH. Looks like he's not hurt after all. His last two innings were much better. Without that screwjob by the ump Shawn would have 5 scoreless innings right now and his pitch count would be more reasonable, possibly allowing him to go 6.

Nice inning there. Not a bad game on the overall for Hill. More innings would have been nice (not totally his fault), but he got us to this point only giving up 2.
