Perez started last Friday, and a defensive miscue was his undoing against
the Orioles. In the first inning, Melvin Mora hit a line drive to left over Wily
Mo Pena's glove for a double on a catchable ball. Mora then scored on a
single by Nick Markakis. In the third, things got worse for Perez. Brian Roberts
led off and hit a fly ball near the left-field line. The ball was up in the air long
enough to be caught, but it dropped in for a double. Roberts scored on a
single by Mora. Markakis then hit a two-run homer. Perez, who lasted five
innings and gave up six runs on 10 hits, blamed himself for the loss.

Suppan will be facing a former team for the third straight start, having defeated
the Cardinals and lost to the Red Sox in his last two outings. In Boston, he
surrendered all four of his runs in the first two innings, all with two outs, but
then settled in. After throwing 54 pitches in his first two innings of work, Suppan
held the Red Sox scoreless over the next four frames on 43 pitches. Brewers
manager Ned Yost elected to give Suppan an extra day of rest after he warmed
up for Friday's game that was rained out, then warmed up again the following
afternoon.

 @ Odalis' BA

On paper, it doesn't look like such a bad matchup.  Guess we'll see how it actually looks in practice.  I was really hoping they'd start Langerhans but I know that's way too much to ask :?

Isn't Suppan a younger, right handed Jamie Moyer?

The Brewers will no doubt have at least three guys hitting over .300 by the time the series is over with us. :(

No kidding! He deserves the role, certainly.

Ugh, our numbers against Suppan are terrible:

Lopez 4/16 Double
Guzman 8/42
Zimmerman 3/9 HR
Young 2/7
Milledge 0/3
Flores 0/0
Dukes 0/0
Pena 1/10
Mackowiak 6/22
Aaron Boone 2/10
Willie Harris 1/6 Double
Langerhans 3/8

Total: 30/133 (.226) 2 Doubles, HR

Only 3 extra-base hits in 133 ABs. That's almost unbelievable.

I wonder if Langerhans will be in the starting lineup..

Why is Odalis Perez batting 9th?

He should be batting 3rd, with a 313 BA.

freakin MASN. The pre-game show just came on and then a blue screen came up saying "Due to MLB restrictions, today's Nationals game will appear on MY 20."

Pathetic. Nothing is on MY20.

I bet that never happens to the orioles broadcast. Also, when the games are on 20 we don't get a postgame show. :?

Yep. They do the post-game show but no one sees it because they are too stupid to realize that they are broadcasting a blank screen.

Carpenter and Knight out. Holliday and Sutton in.  MASN is giving these guys a lot more time off than they did in the past.

I doubt it's that they're just too stupid to realize it. They probably freak the Nats fans on purpose.

That could be the case.  You are right when you said earlier that there are never any problems with the O's' broadcasts.  MASN screws up the Nationals' broadcasts at least in some way every game.  Either no sound, blank screen, screwed up HD feed, etc.

Speaking of Nationals broadcasts, do other announcing teams around baseball take off as much time as Don and Bob?

One of them seems to miss games almost weekly.
