Quote
(following a discussion of Justin Maxwell) Another toolsy outfielder is Roger Bernadina. He's seemingly been in the system for years, as the Nationals have been very patient in allowing his tools to develop, and the 23-year-old Curacao native might be finally paying their patience a dividend, with a .322/.377/.470 line in 38 games. "He's got a very good collection of offensive and defensive tools, and now he's playing within those tools," said the scout, who's been following Bernadina for years. "He has good bat speed, his bunting is a weapon, he's a good aggressive base runner and a plus defender. He could end up a good fourth outfielder or second-division starter."

I think he could be a starter on a 70 win team, which if half our prospects pan out we will not be. I'd love him off our bench though.

Our future is pretty much in place it is just when they progress to the MLB

C-Jesus Flores=Will be starting catcher in one year if not in 2 months
1B-Chris Marrero=Struglling at A, is only 19 though and in 3 years he should be ready
2B-I don't know
SS-I don't know
3B-Zimmerman-starting
OF-Micheal Burgess=is only 19 struglling at low A [I think] will be ready in 4-5 years
OF-Justin Maxwell=low 20's AA, will be ready in 1 1/2 year(s)
OF-I forget

Nice *future* lineup...unfortunately, that's a very odd way to look at things considering those guys have very differerent timetables...

I'll try a 2010 lineup...

SS Cristian Guzman
RF Lastings Milledge
1B Nick Johnson
3B Ryan Zimmerman
LF Chris Marrero
CF Justin Maxwell
SC Jesus Flores
2B Felipe Lopez

SP Hill
SP Lannan
SP Detwiler
SP Balester
SP Mock

RP Ayala
RP Rauch
CP Cordero

Add in some signings (preferably a SP and a 2B), and some fulfilled expectations, and that's a formidable team.

While I'd like to keep Guzman and Johnson, I doubt they will. I notice Dukes is missing, which makes me happy. But having Chad in '10 is pretty wishful thinking at the moment too ... so you're right about signings. I'd say we'd need to sign half an infield, a fourth outfielder, a closer and a starter at minimum. :)

I believe that Nick has a deal in place through 2010; however, don't hold me to that...

I think Johnson would have been gone at the trade deadline if he didn't get injured. Lopez will be gone as well. I doubt they'll move Marrero back to LF.

Bernadina needs to be called up now
since there holding back on Daniel and Maxwell to get them more time, Dina deserves a shot seeing how every guy in the outfield this year has done nothing, Come on Langerhans over Roger!!?? GIMME A BREAK!

You know, I am about to agree here.  If Milledge, Dukes, and Pena aren't going to get the job done, then bring in young guys hungry to play.  We were suppose to have a much more potent offense and I simply don't think it is any better.  I think Bernadina is a step ahead of Daniel at this point.  I think Bernadina is pretty much ready.

Bernadina deserves a call-up. How do they get fans to come when their starters bat.100? Also Bernadina is very similar to Willy Taveras, he already has 17 SB

Yeah, I think, he could be soon be promoted to Columbus or even to Washington ( i have doubts on that though). He is doing pretty well, he is now hitting 330, with a .388 obp and 17 sb. Pretty impressive.

If Dukes doesn't pick it up, call down langerhans [doesn't deserve capitalization] for Bernadina

Yes exactly, Dina has done everything he should to get a callup to atleast Columbus if not Washington while the guys up here have done nothing to deserve to keep there job, Ladson posted some article about the man and how the team looks at him as having good potential and sees something in the man a little while back, and I also noticed him getting attention on rotoworld I belive it was. Also from what ive heard even Alex Escobar has done good and should be considered for a callup

Now that Maxwell is injured, Bernadina's probably third or fourth on the OF call-up list.

1. Escobar
2. Casto
3. Daniel/Bernadina
4. Bernadina/Daniel

It's not my preferred order, but past call-ups make me think that this is how the FO would do it.

1. Casto
2. Bernadina
3. Escobar

No chance in hell Daniel's called up until September IMO.  Escobar can't stay healthy.  Casto and Bernadina are basicall interchangeable IMO.

Why would Bernadina get called up and not Daniel? Honestly, I don't think any of the other young outfielders will get the call, but that is the order (above your post) I think the FO would go w/ if all of the guys are healthy.

Does Casto mean Kory Casto?

1. Bernadina
2. Escobar
3. Daniel [Only in emergency, he might lose the confidence he has built up]
