He'll probably stay in the game in LF and whoever comes in to pitch will "bat" in the 7 hole.

Ut oh. Think I called the Mets coach the wrong name..

Gotta agree - any inning where you fan the side should earn you continued work on the mound. :) It's true though, he struck out on three consecutive foul bunts.

The strategy worked, in that we scored a run.

Looks like Ayala is next.

 I knew it would make you go, "Huh?"

I read it basically as you calling me a poopoo butt.

I'm not calling this a fluke. I am calling for "patience and maturity." Bergmann has done this all before: he has risen to the occasion one day and then become a complete nag the next.

I contain any excitement I have over him, but will gladly take what he has given us today.

I think the problem, though, is that you'll break out the beach ball for one bad outing, but you "contain your excitement" when he has a good one.

This was one of the best pitching performances we've seen this year. That DOES mean something. Giving a losing team a chance to win is very worthy of praise.

Nice steal. We need a single now from our 3rd hitter.

Here comes tired, overworked Ayala now.  (crossing fingers)

In fairness, Bergmann had more than just one bad outing. Look at tomterp's recent posting of VORP, Bergmann was negative 8, I think. :?

Would have been nice to get a hit off a just called up scrub.

Kansas City is beating Detroit 5-1 with the bases loaded ... in the second.
I wish we had Kansas City's offense!

It sucks when your 3rd hitter might as well be a just called up scrub.

Unbelievable. This will be the 4th game he has pitched in the last 5 days. That is absurd.

I wish we had the Rays team. Why the hell did St. Petersburg, FL get an expansion team to play in one of those dome thingies they put over tennis courts in the winter?

That DOES mean something.

So was the infamous "Atlanta Game" and suddenly he found himself back in the minors. Again.

Come on guys, one game. ONE GAME. We have seen this all before, it's not like ONE GAME complete erases his inconsistent past.

That's the way things go. Reyes has been held in check all series and just when we take the lead he gets a lucky hit.
