Not only was it pointless, but she even screwed up what she meant to say. I'm sure it was a replica of a 19th century train engine, not a 19th century replica of a train engine. Supposedly, she knows something about baseball, but MASN has never once allowed her to demonstrate one iota of baseball knowledge - ever. If she actually does know anything more about baseball than she has shown, she has to want to slit her wrists.

I don't think this is too farfetched.  I can believe that she knows more about baseball than she lets on, and she's being held back by her bosses in that regard.  in fact, I'd actually *like* to believe that.

When she's tried to say something about baseball it makes you want her to go back to the usual bullcrap she pushes :?

Yes because Berkman's grounder as well as Pence's were ruled infield hits. :?

He's supposed to be a lot better than Milledge in the OF.  We'll see soon enough.

So would I. In fact I do believe it. All reports show that she was a long time BoSox fan and could probably talk baseball with anyone. This routine she has been thrust into is disgusting. But the onus on her to demand a better gig, so I will continue to complain about the weakness of her reports. She is to MASN what Barbara Harrison is to Channel 4 news.

I actually think that Dukes is the best pure talent on the team, and think he could take the CF job away from Milledge.

That sounds great for the Nats but nauseating because of AZ :?

well, AZ heat flashes aside, the report on Dukes *is* that he is a VERY good player all-around.  extreme Power Bat with above-average plate discipline, and a very solid fielder in all three outfield positions.

none of his faults, as stated by scouts and experts, have anything to do with what he does on the field.  as far as I've read, between the lines he's a flat-out stud, but he's an extreme headcase off the field.

the question with Dukes has never really been "can he play?", it has always been "can he stay out of trouble?".

AZ actually isn't far off base in terms of Dukes' actual talent.  it's just that AZ overdoes it by carrying on like a horny schoolgirl about it.

which makes him annoying as hell.

terrible. Career high in Ks for Backe and it's only in the 5th inning. We should have crushed this bum instead he puts out a career performance.

jesus, the Marlins sweep the hapless Brewers. They are going to come in to town riding a 4-game winning streak.

Anyone think they'll play tomorrow? I hear it's supposed to rain a ton tonight and into tomorrow. It is supposed to be damp and cloudy all weekend.

Glad to hear you all rate Dukes so highly...  for some reason I had gotten the impression from other threads that his fielding skill was so-so

 You were pointing out the wording as much as the meaning, right? They do say some odd things.

most of that is reaction to AZ's schoolgirl antics.  it is like he is purposely trying to be so annoying that it makes us all hate Dukes.  then when Dukes plays well, he can say "I told you so".  I foresee a record number of ignores when Dukes hits his first HR as a National.

anyhow,

he's not a gold-glove caliber outfielder, but he's solid, and won't hurt us playing from any OF slot.

i'm just going on what I've read about him.

Well, he's never made an error in the majors so far and has 87 put-outs. Not too bad, but the numbers don't tell the whole story.
