One thing that Lannan proved last Friday night: He is human. After three
straight solid outings, Lannan was hit hard as the Nationals were pounded
by the Pirates, 11-4. Lannan was out of the game after three innings. He
gave up six runs, five of them earned, and all of them occurred in the third
inning. The biggest blow came when Jose Bautista hit a three-run homer.
Even in the first two innings, during which he didn't give up a run, it
appeared that Lannan was in for a long night. The first hitter Lannan faced
-- Nate McLouth -- was hit by a pitch. After two innings, Lannan had already
reached 44 pitches.

Backe picked up his second win of the season Saturday night with a good
outing against Milwaukee. In 5 2/3 innings Backe gave up two runs on five
hits. But he struggled with his control, walking five. He also hit his third
career home run. Backe has faced the Dodgers just once, allowing three
earned runs in six innings two years ago in a start at Minute Maid Park,
and will be making his first start at Dodger Stadium.

Nieves, Harris, Mackowiak, and Belly in the starting lineup. Manny doesn't want to win does he?  :|

It will have to be as a PHer since he's not in the lineup. AK is in CF

Great question. I doubt Jesus got there in time for this one.  He'll probably head straight to D.C.

Brandon Backe has hit a homer this year and is a career .245 hitter. I bet he at least gets a hit off of one of our pitchers. I still can't believe we let Oswalt beat us last night with the bat. Those 2 runs were the difference in the game.

edit: LMAO, Nats Xtra is talking about it now

Great point they just made. That day off really did end up being the right move for Zimmerman. A few weeks too late, but it worked (so far). Pretty cool that is was Zimmerman himself who asked for it.

I'm assuming that it's a GOOD scare, since it is you who is saying it.

This game is already a disappointment.  The only question is how big is the disappointment.

If we win, we lose the series 1-2.  Smaller disappointment.

If we lose, we lose the series 0-3. Huge disappointment.

You have to be patient with Backe. He gives up a ton of walks and hits.

Nope.  I'm legitimately scared by the lineup, because it's not scary itself!

We need to steal more when Harris is on.  Manny never runs.
