It was definitely a balk. That's exactly why pitchers don't make that move much anymore. It's almost always a balk.

Like a strike it is a judgment call.
Well, technically, every call is a judgment call.  And some judgments are wrong

Get that scrub out of the game.  You can't walk Ty Wiggington.

nobody ever calls it as one...I've seen it done countless times in the majors without a call.

We've done it 100 times this year and no balk call.

Except for Kearns for some reason. I still don't get it.

Not yet; they still have Valverde.  We just need them to get a lead in the 9th

This is the smallest strike-zone I have ever seen.

That scrub is one of our best relievers.

Maybe it's Frank Drebin behind the plate and he's pandering to the crowd.

It's proportional to his penis size.

So many things could have prevented them from scoring in that inning. Misplay by Milledge, girly throw by Lo Duca, bogus balk call, etc.

Yeah and it's not shaped like a box...it's more like an amoeba.

And it shouldn't be because it's almost always the same. Technically, it is a balk, but it's almost impossible not to as a right-hander making that move. Rivera did the exact same thing a few pitches before that.

Walks way too many people to be trusted.  Might as well be Colome.

of course that fat freak umpire decides to call the balk in a close game with a runner on 3rd for the home team.

We've had the lead 3 times tonight, and have given it right back the next inning.  Lets see if the 4th time is the charm.

They really shouldn't have had any baserunners that inning.

But you can't discuss it with your fellow umpires like you can other calls (the same with strikes and balls).

We've done it 100 times this year and no balk call.

The ump ruled that Rivera stepped towards home instead of directly to third. They need to abandon that bullcrap.

Kearns!
