Just joined this week. A member of the Fan Forum told me about it, and I joined right away.  I'm still learning my way around the Forum, but so far, it's been interesting reading.
I'm a full season  ticket holder from the beginning (2005).  I'm also a lifelong sports fan.  Grew up in Pittsburgh; attended the first ever nighttime World Series game.
Looking forward to occasionally taking part in discussions, and reading all the the baseball -- and Nats -- knowledge in this Forum.

Yunz are everywhere...  ;)

Welcome...

Welcome

If ya are of a certain age, it can be "yunz".   ;)

Well, 313 narrows it down as to who it could be.    :)

Good article!  Funny thing is, I do pronounce it yunz, yet always spelled it yinz...even in the 1960's, when I actually learned to spell!  And like author Richard Peterson, I too lost my Pittsburgh accent (when I moved to the Midwest), and eventually stopped using that word in elementary school!  (For folks who know how unique an accent is Pittsburghese, you'll appreciate this:  My Illinois classmates thought my accent meant I was from England!!!)
By the way, mitlen, your Bob Prince avatar is wonderful, as is your quote -- I can still hear Bob saying:  "We had 'em all the way!"

My theory is "yinz" and "yunz" is separated by the steel mill collapse of the early 80s.    If ya were brought up in the 80s or later, it's pronounced "yinz'.    If ya were raised in the 50s or 60s, it's pronounced "yunz".    It's all good.    Have you remained a Steelers' fan?

Since you went to school in Illinois rather than Pittsburgh public schools, I would have thought you could count past 3, but apparently not...  ;)

Of course, I do make allowances for Chicago because Ditka played there.    :)

The SureKill.

Around Labor Day 1969, my neighbor and I drove to Atlantic City.    Had to be back in Western PA on Tuesday for the first day of classes.   We wanted to meet the Miss America ladies.    I drove the Expressway on the way to AC.    Scary as hell.    The only thing I remember is seeing the exit for "South Street".     All I could think of is "The Orlons".      :old:

From Va beach same High school as Zimmerman, started on the site last year in the gameday  thread only.....like the site so far but seem like so people go  a little over the top with the last thing they just saw in the gameday thread ..lol... never played Baseball as a kid so still learning the game but now that i'm in my 30's i enjoy the hell out of watching the Nats and dig the stratagie that come into play.

Best thing I ever did on this board was give up GDTs.

Edit: Welcome!

I know you don't believe that. I dropped some hilarious gems but I just couldn't enjoy the game.

I see it all like sittin' around a bar watchin' the game with old friends.    You know we're all full of sh** (within the GDT) so you ignore any negativity.    Add your gems and then pause for effect.

One more OT and then I'll leave the thread   ...   :)      I usually sit on the couch with the laptop either on my knees or on the coffee table.   It's not too distracting for me.
