Don't bunt.  Let him hit a fly ball

WMP just took a meatball down the middle..

What were you waiting for on that 2-0 pitch, Pena?

I have a huge issue with the mentality that you let the pitcher get an easy strike when you're up in the count 2-0 or 3-0.

Redding's one of our best hitters, actually, looking at the lineup on Gameday...

Just giving away an out.  Now you need a single to score a run.  ugh

WMP is not an intelligent hitter.  He doesn't really recognize or differentiate good and bad pitches.  He assumes that Glavine's throwing a ball on 2-0 because the first two pitches were balls.

UGH, REDDING CAN'T BUNT AND IT COSTS US A RUN

Maybe Glavine will walk Lopez so we can have the bases loaded again and fail :?

I have absolutely no way of quantifying this, but it seems like our hitters have watched a preposterous number of 2-0 and 3-0 pitches go right down Broadway this year.

Another leadoff double squandered. 5 runners stranded.

lmao at Felipe.  We should have 3-4 runs instead have none.  Manny is dumb as crap for bunting Redding there and starting Milledge and Pena.

Just an absolute awful call by Manny to bunt if it wasn't a squeeze.  The bunt would have easily plated the run.

and there is the difference between these 2 teams. Braves, leadoff double = run. Nats leadoff double leaves Kearns on 3rd.

This is a point of contention with me so I've been watching for this sort of thing since '05. It's not only this year, it's been going on for 4 years. They get up 2-0, 3-0 in the count, give the pitcher an easy strike, foul off another pitch and then are at the pitcher's mercy.

Milledge has the 2nd highest avg. on the team.  Who are we going to start?

It's a part of that stupid conventional wisdom bullcrap in baseball.  Sometimes, you have to be smart.  I don't care if the book says you take all the way on 2-0 or 3-0 - you have to consider the pitcher.  Against a good control pitcher like Glavine, do you really think he's going to throw something way out of the zone and walk a batter?

That's just sportsfan being overly emotional.  I'd be calling for Manny's head if he sat Milledge for Willie Harris.

It's bad enough that the red-hot Nieves is sitting in favor of Estrada. :bang:

They're hitting Redding hard. So far he's been lucky that they've been hit right at people and his defense has been there for him (except for Milledge :?).
