_______________________________________ ______________

In his last start on Wednesday, Redding ended up pitching five-plus innings,
giving up three runs on four hits against the Mets. Redding had problems
with the bottom of the order. In the top of the fifth inning, Redding walked
both Brian Schneider and pitcher Johan Santana. Two batters later, the Mets
had runners on second and third when Luis Castillo reached base on an infield
single that allowed Schneider to score. Redding had a feeling that Wednesday
would be a long night, because he didn't feel right during his warm ups. Nats
manager Manny Acta said Redding had poor command of his fastball.

Glavine will be returning to the scene of where he suffered the injury that
forced him to make his first career trip to the disabled list. The strained right
hamstring that Glavine suffered before he'd registered an out against the
Nationals on April 13 has healed and the 42-year-old southpaw is looking to
resume the success he had during his first two starts of the season. During
those outings, he worked 11 1/3 innings and allowed just one earned run.

I predict a hair-raising 3-2 Washington victory with Tim going 6.2 innings.

Since the lineups were posted more than a day early, be aware of possible changes.

Hey, guys, after the upcoming Pirates series, the Nationals travel to Houston.

Actually, now that I think about it, the only Astros game I saw last year was also against Washington. I showed up ten minutes late, and in the top of the first, while I walked to the stadium, the Nationals had scored 5 runs! Once I got there, for the rest of the game nothing happened. :D (We won.)

Looks like Odie will be pitching that night. Too bad I'll be gone Thursday - that could be Lannan.

Wily Mo is actually batting 8th tonight (even less likely to see fastballs in that slot). Estrada is batting in the 7th hole.

Great. Nieves is out? Nieves of the pitchers-who-work-with-him-have-an-ERA-under-2.50 is out?

Knight filling in for Sutton against the Braves.

Man, this is the 7th time we've faced Atlanta in 27 games.

Not sure. They're in the 5th inning of the first game and Dukes is 0/2 with a K and Lo Duca is also 0/2.

VanAllen is pitching a gem thus far for the P-nats: 5 IP 1 H 0 R 0 ER 0 BB 3 SO

JimBo has already said that until Dukes starts consistently hitting, don't plan on seeing him on the big club.

Makes a bit of sense, we don't need anymore dead, offensive, driftwood. Heal him until he shows results.

Wow, I know it's the first, but there's next to nobody in the stands at Nats Park right now.  It looks like a Marlins home game.
