I don't either, but I'm just saying it's possible sometimes.

Okay I thought I missed something. But Montz is more attractive as a catcher. Do you think the Astros would have passed on Smoak if they had Montz in their system.

2006. They didn't have 1st or 2nd round picks in 2007. But they have used their last two first round picks on catchers. Did you read the story in Sunday's post about catchers?

Nutshell: It's a waste to sign a catcher in the first round. Most of the good catchers are drafted at another position or later in the draft. Catchers are "over drafted", meaning they are drafted earlier than they should be based on talent.
