He is easily the best hitter in the NL. The Marlins almost have to keep him long-term.

Oh, the irony!

You seriously believe that the Marlins will let him go?

Derrek Lee is the best hitter in NL, IMO. Chipper Jones is a close second. Hanley still has a few more mini weaknesses at the plate to work out. He's definitely awesome, though.

You feed your St Bernard a bunch of Chalupas from Taco Bell, take him to the ball game, and let him leave editorial comments about Loria all over the upper deck.

Attendance 11,635.  Could you rent a bus, pick up a PILE of dogs from the Pound, to give them a day out, and multiply that effect?

Bang, zoom, another crappy loss is in the books.  Our starters have been $$$ lately and we are still losing every game. Just imagine what it'll be like if they start to falter.  We may see a lot of 10-1, 9-2 type of losses.

They've already stated that the on-field payroll will not go above $15 million until after the new stadium opens.  I'll be surprised if he's a Marlin on August 1, and stunned speechless if, by some miracle, he's a Marlin in December and they even offer him arbitration.

I disagree. I've seen both hit, and it's an easy choice for me. Lee can hit ANYTHING and he has a better eye.

We'll get a good look at him next week.  Man it's going to get real ugly if we go 1-6 or 0-7 next week.

Another Loria payroll purgee.

Chase Utley and Chipper are the two best hitters in the NL.

We are now on a worse pace than last year's team at 5-14 (6-13 after 19 games last season).

at age 24, hanley is already the sickest shortstop in the game and i feel the uncontested best hitter in the nl. the marlins better uncharacteristically lock him up long term.

Hanley had a more productive year last year.  His speed gives him a slight edge.

I thought we were talking about best pure hitters. It's a little different when you factor in speed. Tony Gwynn, IMO, is still the best pure hitter of all-time because he could hit anything and he could put the ball wherever he wanted to. The best we have like that right now in the NL are Lee and Chipper. Best in the league, though, is probably Ichiro.

I'm talking about ability to be productive and score runs.  If we're talking about pure hitting, then yeah, there might be better than Hanley.

Another game, another loss, why didn't I support the bloody orioles!!

Perez has proved again why he deserves a spot on the rotation. he will walk of the field a proud man, because again the starting pitcher has done everything they can to put us in a position to win. No offense and no bullpen to finish it off. What a disgrace.

When can we expect the likes of Zimmerman, "the face of the franchise", to start hitting and coming through in the clutch to get some wins?

On second thoughts, it seems more than perfect that the face of this franchise is the most disappointing, worst producing, ineffective player we have. Seems very relevant, wouldn't you agree?
