_______________________________________ _______________

His new high-leg delivery is starting to impress teams. The Braves, for
example, noticed that the new maneuver helped Chico add more miles to
his fastball. In the past, the Braves knew Chico as a guy who threw in the
low-to-mid 80s. But they were surprised to see that Chico was throwing in
the 90s during Spring Training.

If Wainwright can pitch a full season like he did in the second half in 2007,
he'll be a Cy Young Award contender. He believes he can. After a slow start
in '07, Wainwright posted a 2.71 ERA with 77 strikeouts, 30 walks and only
four homers allowed in 99 2/3 innings after the All-Star break. He pitched
two excellent games against the Nationals last season, but got minimal help
from his offense and bullpen, and the Cardinals lost both games. Wainwright's
first '07 start was washed out after three innings.

I like how Chico is experimenting with this high kick. It would be great if he could get it under control.

Maybe he should call the Lord of High Kicks: Chuck Norris. Soon he'd be a pro and we'd be saying jokes like:

"Matt Chico once high kicked so hard that his foot broke the speed of light, went back in time, and killed Amelia Earhart while she was flying over the Pacific Ocean."

AZ, we're tied in Fantasy.  You have 6 minutes to move Dukes to the DL slot, grab another OF and start him today.  Tomorrow counts too.

I got Wainwright's autograph at a P-Nats game a few years ago when he was in Atlanta's organization. Pretty nice guy. He was walking to his car with a couple of friends of his when I shouted his name. He turned around and waved me over and signed a ball for me.

Good inning Chico. His fastball hit 90 on that last pitch to Pujols.

sigh. 2 quick deep fly outs.

3 straight hard hit fly outs. That's unfortunate.

This just came to me: Felipe is exactly like Alfonso defensively.  A converted second baseman, terrible defender, and now, Lopez gets a Soriano-like outfield assist.

Chico is getting rocked.  I can't believe we are letting their crappy offense dominate us.

I wouldn't be so disgusted with this series if our offense was hitting their crappy pitching.
