Shawn Hill starts for Potomac tonight.  Manny Acta will be in attendance watching the game.

Tomorrow, Chad Cordero is scheduled to pitch one inning for Potomac.

Man, I wanted to go to that game. Is he supposed to have any more starts for them?

That's not a bad outing. The key is to see if he is pain free in the next couple of days. If he is then he should be ready to join the rotation next week.

Hope he stays injury free for the rest of the year.

He isn't. He admitted yesterday on the Nats Journal he still has pain:

Quote
“It’s been getting better, to be honest with you. It’s not gone. I still have a little discomfort, a little tightness and that, but a very little of that sharp pain that I had, which I said before - three weeks ago or whatever - if I could just get rid of that stabbing pain, I would be content pitching the rest of the season with a little discomfort. I’m hoping with whatever it is, throwing through it, maybe in a couple of weeks I’ll have no symptoms.”

I know some around here would consider him pitching hurt "heroic" but back in the Land of Reality it's called "stupid." He'll be back on the DL before the end of the year. No doubt.

It's starting to sound like you'd rather be proven right than have Hill actually get better.

Edit: I should clarify here. This isn't what I think you WANT to happen, it's just what it sounds like.

Thank you for your clarification. You would be wrong. I would love another healthy pitcher in our rotation to choose from.

But Shawn Hill is not healthy, he admits it, and if that doesn't throw up a bunch of red flags to the fans and FO, then we have a bunch of colorblind people running around.

Kevin Goldstein, of Baseball Prospectus, on Ross Detwiler:

Quote
After pitching a scoreless inning in the big leagues last year, most thought that Washington would send the sixth overall pick in last year's draft to Double-A to begin the year. Instead, they went the less aggressive route and assigned him initially to their High-A Carolina League affiliate. After his season debut on Sunday, maybe Double-A wasn't such a bad idea after all, as Detwiler fired five shutout innings, struck out seven, and of the remaining eight outs, seven were on groundballs. The old cliché in the minors is that it's not where you start a year, it's where you finish, and don't be surprised if Detwiler's season ends with some more innings in the big leagues.

I know Lannan was/is #1 on our "next in line" list, but what do you guys think the order is after that when it comes to call-ups? I mean for injuries and for poor performances, not just September call-ups.

1. Lannan
2. Clippard
3. Balester
4. Mock

Clip, Balester, and Mock all struggled in their first starts in Columbus but you'd have to think they'd be next in line in terms of starters.  One guy I noticed in Columbus who is pitching well in relief is Brian Sanches. We may see him before the end of the year if he keeps it up.

Shawn Hill be pitching for Columbus this Sunday (instead of in the Majors) says the Nationals Journal.

-Kory Casto broke a bone in his hand and will be out 4-6 weeks.

-Alex Escobar was moved to the DL too but I am not sure what exactly is ailing him.

No major losses here. Escobar is on the DL for a bad ankle.

Escobar back on the DL...shocking.
