This will be a really great thread to look back on in a few years.

Maybe Natsman (BBQ) will be back from vacation by then to revive it for us.

Crappy night for Dukes in Columbus. 0/4 with 2 Ks and a DP.

The Clips made an awesome comeback though. They were trailing 6-1 going into the bottom of the 8th and then scored 6 runs to take the lead 7-6. Broadway hit a clutch 2-out, 3-Run Homer.  Booker and Manning held them scoreless in the 9th to preserve the victory.  Columbus has won 4 in a row and 8 of their last 11.

damn, dukes didn't have a good night.  hopefully he has solid games tomorrow and wednesday and can convince bowden to call him up for the marlins series.

worst case scenario he stays in Columbus "to consistently prove he can hit minor league pitching" or whatever and i get to see him live four straight games when the clippers visit the bisons!

absolute best case scenario he stays in Columbus, not doing anything to help the Nationals win and i get to see him live four straight games when the clippers visit the bisons!

Nice outing by Mock tonight in Columbus: 6 IP 6 H 1 R 1 ER 0 BB 5 SO (Win). His AAA ERA is down to 3.77.

I think he is a serious candidate to make our '09 rotation. I was really impressed by his stuff when I watched him in ST.

Alaniz wins again for Potomac. He struck out 7 in 5 innings while allowing 3 runs.  He's now 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA for the P-nats.

I think he's a serious candidate for the rotation this year with Chico sucking so badly.  He and Clippard might be amping it up and competing.

He's still too hittable. He's got great stuff, but he leaves it up in the strike zone too often.

From what a lot of people said about him here on this board he should be tearing up the minor leagues because he's ready to start here NOW.

Maybe they didn't see his at bats against Hudson.

i think the coorelation between performance in the minors and performance in the majors is highly overrated.

Yeah, Jesus is struggling a bit though. He has drawn 8 walks.  I don't understand why he isn't starting everyday like the Nats' front office wanted though. Jesus and Javi Herrera have been alternating the catching duties.

I agree with this to a certain extent.  Just look at Tim Redding who was garbage last year in AAA and then he was recalled and instantly became our best starter.  I think it can help certain players to be up with the big league team more than playing in the Minors.  Jesus could benefit from being up here and being instructed/managed by Corrales and Acta. He's all alone in Columbus.

I don't get this either.

It's probably because Herrera is actually hitting. There's no guarantee that Flores is our future catcher. It's our hope, but we can't just assume that it's going to happen. Montz is actually looking like the best catcher in the minors right now. He's the same age as Flores, too.

Everts gave up 5 hits and 5 earned runs in an inning of relief with Potomac today.

He's starting to heat up a bit.

Yeah brutal relief appearance for Everts, he came on with the bases loaded and no runs scored on the inning and let 8 runs score.

Also remember how bad Ryan Church was for a time in 2006 down at New Orleans.

4/5 night for Mike Daniel. He's now batting .327.

Maxwell hit a solo shot.  His OBP is good but his .215 AVG sucks.
