Off to a good start, Guz doubles and Milledge get credit for an IF single.  I think the scorer was trying to protect Rollins FPCT.

1-0 and Utely (I like that spelling better) throws it away.

2-0 and the strike zone is expanding.

That's ok, so's the lead.  Belliard makes it 4-0, making Utely's error pay.

Nothing against Moyer, but with the Phillies lack of rotational depth, if he proves to be washed up, they are sunk for this season unless they can make some sort of deal.

Surprisingly they didn't start until it was 4-0.

I have come to the conclusion I like the Nats scoring runs in the first inning.

ALREADY 5-0 IN FAVOR OF THE ALMIGHTY NATS!

HOW'S THAT FOR SOME EARLY RUN SUPPORT, BERG?!

YOU WOULD THINK PITCHERS WOULD LEARN, DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING HIGH FOR BELLY.

Bergmann struck out swinging.
Nationals 5
Phillies 0

Middle of the 1st inning.

When you click on the game page and see this, in the FIRST inning, you know that, perhaps, Philadelphia has now been DAMNED, or that the Nationals are blessed.  Nothing like getting into the heads of Phillies fans big time in Week 1.

IF YA DON'T KNOW BY NOW, THE NATS OFFENSE IS A SERIOUS THREAT!

1-2-3 for berg

i'm watching on extra innings and the phillies play by play guy is a snooze fest

nice job by JayBer - 1-2-3 after our big inning. that was missing last year (both the big inning especially in the first inning, and shutting down the opp after a big inning)
