For the first time all year, the Marlins starters now have more IP than their pen:  37.0 to 36.0.  Hendrickson goes on the mound tonight, so it may not last long.

Do you honestly think with the problems we have with our own team, we have the least bit sympathy?

C'mon Natsaddict, stop sandbagging.  You've been talking about how bad these guys are all spring, and now that we see them, it's like the reincarnation of Sandy Koufax out there.

Seriously, stop jinxing us with "guaranteed wins"!  :-[

I'm catching on to his strategy so to counter it...

We have Perez on the mound tonight against natsaddict's marlins' lineup that has feasted on Nationals pitching so far. Perez is no Ace. He's more like our ecA so the marlins will have an easy time sweeping us tonight.

The really strange thing for the Marlins is that Ramirez is competing with Uggla for the K crown.  Uggla has 11 in 32 AB (every 2.909 AB), and Ramirez has 10 in 29 AB (every 2.900 AB).  The first 2 in the Marlins batting order are on a pace to K 425 times.  They would be on a pace 466 for if it weren't for LoDuca calling for 2-strike count pitches into Uggla's wheelhouse (HR Monday on a 2-2 and 2B yesterday on a 1-2). I think LoDuca's gotten even worse since leaving the Marlins.  You would think he knew Uggla hits .155 with 2 strikes and Ks 65% of the time on any 2-strike count.

Easily. They scored 10 runs in each of the first games against our "2 best pitchers". Tonight in Perez they face our worst.  Hendrickson shut us down in ST and will probably throw a complete game shutout. 15-0 Fish win  :)

What's a bad omen for the Nats is that although the Marlins are on pace to break last year's record number of strikeouts, that they've only K'd 11 times in the past 2 games.

There, maybe that reverse psychology will work for the Nats.

No way, you're way off, you're overestimating the Marlins' defense.  15-1.

The Phillies, Mets, Braves, and Fish all won tonight.  Other teams are stepping up and we continue to wallow in our own crap.

Dress to impress: Gonzalez instituted a dress code this year requiring players to wear jackets on the team plane.

But on the first road trip that ended Sunday, he noticed players taking it a step further.

"I see a lot of Men's Wearhouse suits," he said. "You know what that says? That says they don't know how to match. So, a suit takes the guessing work out. Like Garanimals."

Saw this in Jon Heyman's column: "It appears that the Mets have already honored Carlos Delgado by erecting a statue of him that's placed near first base whenever the Mets are in the field."

I'm really glad the Fish didn't change the wallpaper pattern in the cellar when they were here last season...

They're actually 9-5.

Also:

14 of their first 20 games are against teams with losing records in 2007.  Starting on the 23rd, they have 14 straight against teams with winning records in '07.

The defense is making errors at a greater rate than last years worst in MLB defense.

4 of the 9 wins have been by a single run, and they have been outscored 75-66.

The starters have the worst ERA in the majors, and the team totals are tied with the Nats for the worst in the NL.

They have the worst K/BB ratio in MLB.

They have Dan Uggla batting 2nd, and, of course, have the MLB worst OBP in that position.

They have Fredi Gonzalez as their manager.

My point is that once things have a chance to even out, that 9-5 isn't going to hold.  In fact, it's down to 9-6 already, and they will be well south of .500 by mid-day and continue to tumble.

Still, somebody needs to tell the Nat's clubhouse that there is not a players' strike going on this year.

I still believe that the Marlins will end up in the cellar.

Me, too.  Besides the horrendous defense and rotation, they are terrible with situational hitting.  Like all other years under Presley, with RISP, they are atrocious.  Last year they became the first team ever to have more Ks than RBI with RISP and 2 outs. Their last hit with RISP was in the 2nd inning of Tuesday's game - 23 innings ago.  That was the only time in the last 49 innings the Marlins have had a hit with RISP.

Only the Padres strike out more than the Marlins.

But, here is the really telling thing.  They are averaging a pitiful 4.4 runs per game, and the standard deviation of runs per game is 3.52 - that's an 80% standard deviation - that's an enormous level of inconsistency.  It's all feast or famine, and the feasts are very infrequent.

They've only score more than 1 run in 2 of their last 5, including 1 run between 2 games in the Minute Maid Band Box.

No problem, NatsAddict.  We'll get you guys back on track this weekend.  Andrew Miller will pick up his first win of the season, Burke Badenhop will get the first win of his career, and Olsen will earn his second win against us this season in as many starts.

Chipper hit 2 home runs for the second consecutive night. He's currently hitting .455. And someone here called this dude old earlier this season.

Great Mets-Phillies game on ESPN right now. That crowd is CRAZY. Utley has 2 homers already. 4-4 in the 6th.
