Cap City sponsoring Oktoberfest in Shirlington today until 6 PM.  $25.  50 beers from various area breweries.

I bought a variety pack of beers from a brewer I hadn't really heard of before, Voodoo out of Meadville, PA.  Pretty average but the strange thing, to me, is they use extremely generic solid green and yellow bottle caps with absolutely no type on it at all.

I've had their stoudt.  It was pretty good - certainly better than Guinness

And I guess their brown is also very good, I use New Castle as a comparison, one of my favorites.

There is a Pilzilla, White Magick of the Sun and a four seasons IPA which are all average or below average to me.  I would like to try their stout as I like a nice dark beer.

I was going to say that I love their stout, but then I realized that Voodoo Stout is also the name of a beer from California (Left Coast). Pretty sure that's the one I had.

Stout is my favorite kind of beer but I don't like Guinness very much.

1. 512 Cascabel Cream Stout
2. Stone Collaborations Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout
3. Left Coast Voodoo Stout
4. Old Rasputin
5. Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro

or something like that

Those are all from TX, CA, CO, so y'all probably have a totally different set of 'em up there.

What is everyone's favorite pumpkin beer?

Trying a bunch of 'em out. So far I've had Pumpkick and Harpoon UFO Pumpkin.

Maybe HalfSmokes isn't a pumpkin beer fan, for the Southern Tier Pumpkin is awesome

I actually like Lancaster double milk stout a bit more than Southern Tier.

That's why it's awesome.  Pumpkin pie that can get you totally smashed.

I'd recommend that one to SF since he doesn't like stuff that tastes really strong.

Founders Breakfast Stout.

that is very good.  it can't be too rare because they sell it at Harris teeter,  but Guinness makes something called foreign extra stout which is very good.  can definitely compete with the craft stouts.  worth trying just so you can be in disbelief that it is from the same brewer.

I am fiending  for three stars global pandemic,  barrel aged.  maybe even any barrel aged  stout. I think those are going to be the next pumpkin  beer.  everyone is making them now.

as far a pumpkin goes, I think I am just going to keep pumpkin pie on hand

I hope barrel aged isn't the next thing. If I to sit and sip a high alcohol drink, I'd prefer to just have a scotch. I like my beer to be refreshing at least to some degree.

Friend of mine just tweeted that Southern Tier Pumking "tastes like candy corn, and not in a good way." He liked Wasatch better. Any of y'all tried that?
