Man I hate these late west coast games.  It's hard enough staying up that late, but not to be able to watch the game on TV makes it even harder :(

Anyone know if MLB.TV is blacked out?

Washington Nationals (76-71)
John Patterson, RHP (8-5, 2.74)

Scouting Report:
Patterson missed his last start against the Mets because of a sinus infection and bronchitis that turned into a slight asthma attack. Patterson said he is feeling better and expects to pitch on Friday night against the Padres at PETCO Park in San Diego. Patterson will be facing the Padres for the seventh time in his career. He is 1-3 with a 3.94 against them.

Jake Peavy, RHP (12-6, 2.93)
San Diego Padres (72-73)

Scouting Report:
After skipping a turn with shoulder stiffness, Peavy will try to replicate his last effort against the Nationals: a five-hit complete game shutout in Washington on Aug. 7. He went five scoreless innings with pain in the pitching shoulder in his last outing at Milwaukee on Sept. 4 after tweaking the shoulder on Aug. 30 throwing a changeup against the Diamondbacks. Peavy is 7-2 at home with a 2.84 ERA, striking out 119 in 101 1/3 innings.

MLB.com figures out where you are logging on from, and if you're in the DC area, a lot of times Nats games are blacked out :?

ive never had any games blacked out except for saturdays (because of fox games).. and i live in northern virginia.   i don't see any reason why tonight's game would be blacked out.

A 3 game west coast swing in September.  This bites so much it almost distracts me from my nightly temper tantrum that my Nats games aren't on TV.

The good news: I can listen to both the Caps' preseason game and the Nats' game because one's at 7:00 and one's at 10:00 or 10:30.

The bad news: 6-0 Hurricanes, 15 penalties for the Caps

Meh...the Caps?  Go Habs!  (I also like the Penguins a little bit, as I used to live there, too...but go Habs!)

Don't get all uppity on me, gar?on.  We do things differently here... we lose horribly and give up 14 power plays.  May as well give us Phil Kessel right now.  Oy vey...

This is my last non-baseball post.  Gotta get ready for the Nats!

I think this game, the first few innings will determine how Patterson's feeling after not pitching in a while. Jake Peavy maybe good, but the Padres are still below .500 and theres no reason why we cant sweep them.

And yes I am aware they swept us at RFK. But 1.) We seem to be playing much better on the road now and 2.) When they swept us, we were at the bottom of our decline now we're playing better not good but better

listening to the Padres announcers on XM - Coleman just said the Nats were a very underrated team.......praised Wilkerson, Vidro and Guillen as 3 tough hitters.....

GUILLEN!! Use your head...make him throw some pitches. Even though wilky struck out he made him throw 8 pitches.

Guillen grounds into double play.  You know, I really don't mind GIDP's, but I hate GIDP's ON THE FIRST PITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Especially after Wilkie worked an 8 pitch at bat.

What's the freaking rush, Jose?  Take a look at one first.

I enjoy these late-night games.  Keep in mind, I have no job and classes have yet to begin for me, so I have no issues with staying up late and waking up later.

Nice to see Vidro getting a hit in his first at bat since returning.

Not so nice to see Guillen DP'ing him up right afterwards.

NOTE #2: 1-1 tie btw. Brewcrew and the 'Stros in the bottom of the 8th.  Milwaukee had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the top of the 8th but couldn't get a run after Garner brought Lidge into the game.

I guess if we take a horrible nosedive from here on, the "blame Vidro" crowd will be proven right once and for all

Darling is pointing out that Patterson looks noticeably thinner tonight.  I had perceived that as well.

Let's get out of the inning, okay JP?
