I hope we win and the Mets win. I just think Mets are the better team to represent the NL in the playoffs. Phillies pitching is terrible.

The Phillies pitching is 100 times better than the Mets.  Didn't you just watch us score 10 runs a game against the Mets in NY earlier in the week?  The Phillies offense is 100 times better than the Mets too.  If the Mets squeak in they will lose in the first round, no doubt.  I can actually see the Phillies going deep.

Very satisfying win. Nice way to play on the national stage in that environment.

Phillies
1. C. Hamels
2. J. Moyer
3. A. Eaton
4. K. Lohse
5. K. Kendrick

Mets
1. T. Glavine
2. P. Martinez
3. O. Perez
4. J. Maine
5. O. Hernandez

I'd take the Mets starters any day.

Let's see.. We just got finished kicking Maine and Glavine's ass in their own park.  Perez got lit up by the last place Marlins yesterday.  Hamels is one of the best in the NL and I'd put Kendrick as their #2, he's very solid.  Moyer has 13 wins so he isn't too bad.  Plus the Phillies bullpen has been far superior to the Mets as of late.

Do you even bother to pay attention to what players do when they aren't playing the Nats? :roll:

Ok. Let's look at the Mets/Phillies Top 3 starters over their last 3 starts:

Glavine: 0-1 with a 6.11 ERA
Perez: 1-1 with a 4.96 ERA
Maine: 1-1 with a 5.82 ERA (counting today's game)

Hamels: 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA
Kendrick: 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA
Moyer: 0-1 with a 4.42 ERA

You can't be serious that the Mets pitching > Phillies pitching.  Yes the Mets rotation was good earlier in the season but not any more.  Perez and Maine (today was an exception) have fizzled out and Glavine needs to hang up the cleats because his stuff doesn't fool hitters any more.  Hamels and Kendrick are rolling on all cylinders.  The Mets bullpen has been woeful for months now while the Phillies bullpen continues to improve.

What about season numbers? Even more importantly, playoff numbers?

Like I said, the Mets' starters have fizzled out at in alarming fashion.  The Phillies are just coming in to their groove.  And there  is no way you can compare the Mets offense to the Phillies.  No contest.  Even if the Mets sneak it in to the playoffs, I GUARANTEE you that they will bow out in the first round.

Was watching the game on Fox, but just wasn't posting, obviously.  Actually, I didn't know the game was on until the 7th inning; just assumed it was on at seven.

I don't agree:

Phillies   Position   Mets
Rollins     SS       Reyes
Utley      2B       Castillo
Burrell     LF       Alou
Howard   1B       Delgado
Rowand   CF       Beltran
Werth     RF       Green
Helms     3B       Wright
Ruiz        C        Lo Duca

Mets definitely have the better RF, 3B, LF, and C. The only position that Phils are definitely better at (offensive AND defensively) is 1B. That's it. Castillo's a great hitter while also being a BADASS 2B.

To add my two cents to ronnynat:

C  = Mets (LoDuca)
1B = Phils (Howard)
2B = Phils (Utley)
3B = Mets (Wright)
SS = Phils (Rollins)
OF = Mets (Alou, Beltran, Green)

The Mets have a 5-3 advantage, but still, it's not that one-sided, and the Phils offense overall has been better than the Mets offense overall this year.
