My point was that he (and Zimmerman and Kearns) would still get pitches to hit, later in the at-bat because Olsen stinks.  Nothing was gained that wouldn't have been gained after a few more pitches plus they could have driven up Olsen's pitch count.

I know what you were saying but I don't buy to that theory entirely. If a hitter like Young gets a pitch he likes then he should swing and it shouldn't matter that it's the first pitch of the at bat.
